Ashnil Samburu Camp

I was very impressed with the staff, hospitality service at Ashnil, Samburu. I would definitely recommend this to all. Very helpful, very polite. I will come back again. In my opinion the staff should receive bonuses. Thank You all for a wonderful service. You made us very happy.

Stayed here 1 night at end of my 2 weeks in Kenya - and enjoyed my short time here very much by the river in The Reserve, especially the friendly and helpful staff and the quality of the meals was very good - better than at nearby more expensive lodge I stayed. And not a full buffet breakfast which prefer. Also liked the spacious layout of the lodge's main areas - dining room and bar. Tent/ Room was well equipped and very clean. Highly recommend and good value. Note: Despite the name- this lodge is in Buffalo Springs - which isn't an issue as the animals roam across the river and boundaries of both Samburu & Buffalo Springs National Reserves.

It was better than our expectation. Rooms were large and cozy, had all amenities that we required. Staffs were very polite and smiling. Food was good. Swimming pool is always a bonus during this heat and it also had a children's pool. Need to put up a high viewing deck at the river front for visitors. That would be lovely

Ashnil Samburu camp again It is such a friendly Camp that though we were here a few times before, we are once again here. Although we love staying at camps/lodges which are new to us, there is also some undeniable charm in returning to a familiar place where you know practically every nook and cranny. The best way to describe Ashnil Samburu is to put it against something extremely different, like for example Lion’s Cave: Lion’s Cave which is wild, dramatic with extraordinary views and very difficult steps and paths and Samburu Ashnil super comfortable, with well kept grounds, even paths, modern bathroom with choice of food and a resident elephant ( sic). One should see both camps to be able to appreciate their difference so just go and compare. Yet, I must stress and underline that we loved both very very much indeed! After the flood in 2019, in Ashnil Camp there are 17 tents instead of around 30 as there used to be and 2 of them behind a stone wall. We stay at tent 19 with super big room with huge bed, bathroom divided into separate shower stall, separate loo, separate washbasin all these make a lot of sense, especially in the morning rush. There is a small terrace and a green area all around the tent so you feel very private. Let’s go into details of meals: for lunch: beef or barracuda, a lot of fruit, coffee, for dinner: cream of celery, leg of lamb, pork with honey and of course, a lot of different fruit. For breakfast: English breakfast, pancakes, fruit, coffee and a great variety of other choices to select from to make it a great start of the day. Wildlife is all around, on the lawn, near the river, just right behind the gates . Vervet monkeys, baboons, gerenuks, impala, Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffes, greater kudu, oryx, yellow breasted spurfowls, lilac breasted rollers , Egyptian geese, hammerkopfs and elephants, just to mention the ones we observed.

My husband and I stayed at Ashnil for 2 nights as the first stop on our 9 day safari in Kenya for our honeymoon. We were so impressed by Ashnil and it was our favourite accommodation of the whole trip. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, especially Elvis (restaurant staff). The lodges were comfortable and had everything we needed, and the location was perfect for safari. We will definitely be back!

We have just enjoyed five days in this wonderful camp, it was amazing, staff here helped make our safari very special. The accommodation is first class, the food delicious, the location perfect and sightings of animals just across the Ewaso Niro River simply wonderful. We cannot praise the service enough, so many helpful staff here, in particular Fauncier, Daniel, Elvis & Barnoti in the restaurant also Florence & Alfred in reception they absolutely spoiled us. On our last night we were treated to a bush dinner just the two of us , our chef cooked a sumptious meal, our waiter served drinks and we enjoyed the warm evening after being led up a candle lit pathway to our table, so romantic. We are regular visitors to Kenya and wherever we have been the service and attitude has been great but this team were special, thanks folks you were just brilliant. We had one worrying aspect of our safari, the bush airline changed our departure airstrip at the last minute and we were diverted to another airstrip about an hour away. Our guide drove at speed but we missed our flight, stranded in the bush, we had to endure another night in the wild, luckily our International flight was the following day so everything worked out fine but the welcome we got back at Ashnil after such a stressful time was superb, they housed us in the very best of room and helped us to relax after a stressful time.
