The staff is amazing and the grounds are lovely. We had a balcony room, which was hard to enjoy in the early morning due to landscaping noise. There's not much to do in the area in April before watersports are in full swing, but if you want a mellow getaway, it's a lovely place to be. We ate at some nice local area restaurants in Irvington (Dredge, The Local) Killmarnock (Killmarnock Inn, Chitterchats Ice Cream), and White Stone (Sandpiper). Customer service was pretty amazing everywhere we visited in the area.

I’ve been going to The Tides Inn on and off for over 50 years! We started when I was a young kid. The resort continues to be an incredibly enjoyable experience. The improvements that ownership has made over the past ~20 years are wonderful. The grounds have never looked better, and the Oyster habit is quite a sight to see. The new boardwalk is a great place for a stroll with your morning coffee or evening cocktail. The restaurant is excellent, the bar is beautiful and welcoming, the outdoor spaces are inviting and comfortable and the staff is top notch. If you feel like splurging a bit, request Room 151. It’s spectacular!!

The Tides Inn wants to be a luxury hotel and charges luxury prices, but without much to back it up. Our room stunk of mildew and was not clean (built up dust on ceiling fan, buggy patio, unusable configuration of furniture). The pool was filthy and the deck needed a thorough cleaning. The grounds need attention and the building looks worn (dirty awnings, overgrown landscaping, discolored siding, etc.) Additionally, room service arrived in cardboard containers in a paper bag without table, plates, napkins, silverware, etc. Our order was late the first morning and incorrect the second morning. The views from the property are breath-taking and I wanted so badly to love this hotel but it just falls very short of what it claims to be. Save your money and go somewhere else.

DO NOT LEAVE WITHOUT CLOSELY CHECKING YOUR BILL! For a two-night stay there was an overcharge of over $260. I had made the reservation by phone, and was given a final, total price, including resort fees and taxes. I got an email confirming that amount, and I confirmed it again and was shown a screen indicating it, when I checked in. But at check out, it was as if none of that had happened. The clerk insisted that the price I was told did not include resort fees. That was clearly untrue. Round and round we went. It finally took my comments to their post-visit email asking "How was your stay", before it was finally made right. But even then they never admitted any wrong, just said that they gave me the refund as a gesture of good will. Otherwise, it was a fine place to stay, with a very good restaurant.

There’s no denying the Tides Inn is a beautiful place. The property itself is postcard-perfect, with sweeping waterfront views and impeccably creative landscaping that turns every corner into something worth pausing for. The grounds are a masterclass in design—lush, inviting, and full of thoughtful details that make wandering a pleasure in itself. The staff deserves real credit too. From the front desk to the marina, everyone we encountered was friendly, responsive, and genuinely eager to help. There’s a warmth and attentiveness here that gives the place a heart beyond its physical beauty. The restaurant? A standout. Every meal was beautifully prepared and delivered with care. It wasn’t just good—it was memorable. The kind of dining that makes you linger longer than you planned, and still think about it days later. But—and it’s a big but—the rooms don’t hold up. We received a free upgrade, which we appreciated, but for a property charging what amounts to half of a month’s rent per night, our accommodations felt tired. Cracked tiles, leaky shower, mildewed carpet and bathroom, doors that won’t close, and housekeeping that skipped us entirely—no bed made, no refresh—a letdown that undercut the luxury experience they’re aiming for. We really did enjoy our time here. The setting is stunning, the people are lovely, and the amenities are top-notch. But when it comes down to value, the numbers don’t add up. It’s hard to justify the price when the basics—like room upkeep—aren’t up to standard. As much as we wanted to love it unreservedly, we probably won’t be back.

The staff is the gem of this place. EVERYONE is friendly, accommodating and pleasant. The food at the two restaurants is good although typically resort-priced. Pete at the bar is outstanding and Theresa the resident artist is an exceptional talent and an exceptional teacher. Be aware that, at least currently, the Fish Hawk restaurant is closed Monday and Tuesday. This is a bigger deal than it sounds because it is the poolside restaurant. When it's open, the staff comes around to ask for food and drink orders which is a lovely thing to have by the pool. When it's closed you have to go up to the main building to get any drinks or food. That is slightly beyond "inconvenient" but not a dealbreaker. Overall, the spaces, the spa, the bars, the food and the surroundings make this an outstanding place to stay. The small issues are, in fact, small and minor changes would take this resort from "fantastic" to "outstanding".

The Tides Inn has dramatically improved over the past several years. My wife and I have been going there for 57 years and have seen its highs and lows. It is an excellent small resort to just unwind and relax.

Stayed at the marina. For a 4 star resort, the marina bathroom/shower (porta potty like) are a joke. Poolside bar/restaurant also closed on Mon/Tues - disappointing given what you are paying here.

The Tides Inn is a lovely property with a lot to do. I do think the activities that they offered were a little overpriced. The food at Salt and Meadow was good but very expensive for the meal that we had. Even though we had an early dinner, they ran out of one of the specials so one person in our party had to pick another option. It was a Thursday night; the restaurant wasn't terribly busy. It was also a little off putting to receive an email from them asking if I wanted to request an early check in, only find out that they wanted to charge me an additional $75 to do that, that was a first especially because I had booked one of their premier rooms. The rooms were very clean and the staff was very attentive.

The Tides is total relaxation with elegant luxury. The staff is amazing. Dining fresh, seasonal and local. Room was beautiful with special touches of snacks and drinks. Linens were wonderfully soft and fluffy. Didn’t want to leave! Can’t wait to go back!

It was a wonderful experience. We were there for a wedding and it was over the top. The resort is beautiful and well maintained. Staff was so helpful, the rooms were beautiful and well maintained. We did not have time to use much of the things the resort had to offer, but we will go back again to use more.

The check-in is on the late side (4:00 pm), and if you ask for an "earlier" check-in, they charge you $75.! For the price of the rooms, this additional charge is offensive. That aside, we were happy with our accommodations, and the staff was very friendly and welcoming.

The Tides Inn is a nice place, but it is definitely not worth the price. The room, while nice, had beat up furniture and smelled musty. The ceiling started to leak and plaster fell down. We also had a flickering light that they couldn’t repair and the tub was broken, which they did repair. Finally, you could hear the children running in the room above us all day. The staff is extremely friendly and the excursions and food are great, but were over priced as well. On the whole, I don’t think that we will ever return.

The Tides Inn continues to "re-make" itself into a first class resort. Improvements made over the past several years have resulted in a more comfortable environment. Known for its warm and gracious hospitality, the Tides continues to add interesting activities such as pottery making, nature walks, and art classes to its already charming grounds. The spa is quite good, with a complement of services one would expect. Tennis, pickleball, and a few remaining golf greens provide additional outdoor activities to complement the pool and watersports area that are exceptional.
