The Tides Inn

The Tides Inn is truly a hidden gem. It’s a small pieces of paradise carved out of the lower Chesapeake bay. It offers something for everyone. You feel relaxed the moment you arrive. The service and staff are some of the best around. The restaurants and food are wonderful.

This place is a hidden gem. We had a water view suite which was updated and lovely. We ate at their fine dining restaurant all three nights. Spectacular food and service, not to mention a killer view. The food presentation is amazing. We chose Tides Inn because they have pickleball courts. Sadly, no guests to play with. However, we played with the activities gal one day and hired a pro the other day. So it worked out. The art studio and teacher were first rate. We went on a cruise of the “creek” with Michael the first day. A kayak adventure the second day. The Chesapeake Gold Adventure the last day. We learned all about oysters and how important they are to the ecosystem. Sadly, jelly fish put a damper on swimming, but I understand they are gone by August. I would definitely go back.

We have visited tides many times and was looking forward to it being a treat on our way to Florida. The renovation is nicely done, but I have mixed emotions on the amenities. We had a veranda room and I felt like I was in the basement where the staff resides because they were coming and going out of the elevator constantly.. room service tray still in the hall when I arrived. Dinner was average selection limited my biggest complaint though is that they charged me 30 bucks for a bourbon that any place else is $12 and they blamed it on the Virginia lottery system. I won’t take the time to explain it, but they obviously passed their cost for their supply issues because of that lottery.onto me. There was no bar menu with prices and this should have been disclosed so while I peacefully drink my buffalo trace I ended up with a bill that was shocking $90 for three bourbons that’s not right and I intend to debate this with general management and food and beverage management. It should have been disclosed. Not fair to pass that onto me with no disclosure.
