Giellajohka

We happened to find this absolute gem whilst looking for an accommodation in the wilderness that isn’t touristy and with a homely feel!Giellajohka offers all this and much more along with peace and quiet literally in the lap of nature!we stayed in the fisherman’s cottage facing the northern skies on the banks of a frozen river( early morning views-10/10!) The room was adequate for three with a functional kitchenette.A fireplace in a teepee just adds to the fairytale charm of the place! The Finnish sauna and the icy plunge dip is absolutely an experience in itself!The activities the hotel offers ( snowmobile and husky) were exceptional and a must try!The property has a private reindeer farm.Healthy and hearty breakfast options and delightful meal options for vegetarians too! Kudos to Anita, her family and her wonderful team for giving us an authentic experience in the Arctic!P.S(Miuku the cat will steal your heart❤️)

We spotted the restaurant randomly along the road and stopped for dinner. Atmosphere is superb, the cottage is super cozy, very nice staff; and food was really good and at a good price! Would deffinetly recommend for a nice, authentic meal feel.

Beautiful location near Muotka wilderness area .Room with private bathroom was clean and cozy. Shared kitchen with good equipment and nice fireplace area. Very nice staff. Food was amazing, especially reindeer tartar was SO good. Definitely going back some day. I think this place is amazing in wintertime.

Tldr: Fantastic food. Fantastic staff. Super room. 100% coming back. The attitude of the staff is super-friendly with a Finnish flavour. The venue itselleen is very clean. Food is brilliant. Breakfast (buffet) is worth it. You shouldn’t drive any further. Paradise.

Stopped by for some snack. Nice place, super service and great food. Going to be a regular when driving by now and then. Clean facilities. Have tried several dishes from the menu, snacks and mains. Especally the burger is tasty, and the blue cheese dip

I'm here now. What can I say ... The staff, super friendly, from Anita to Jouni and all the rest. Very helpful and always smiling. The location, wow!! If you want an epic wilderness to do some adventures, then Giellajohka is your place. I've been snowshoe trekking which was exhilarating. Today I went ice fishing with Samu a guide from Giellajohka, was like therapy for me. So calming sitting on a frozen lake catching loads of fish after the holes were drilled through the ice. Then Giellajohka kitchen cooked the fish for me when I got back. Brilliant! Northern Lights - 2 nights I've stayed here, 2 immense Aurora shows both nights. They even have a teepee with wood fire to keep you warm when you watch the show. Food - They have excellent facilities and kitchens to cook your own. But I booked breakfast, which is a lovely filling buffet. I also have reindeer soup every evening, it's tremendous. Activities - Lots to do, I'm doing snowmobiling tomorrow, then cross country skiing Wednesday. Also gonna do the traditional hot then ice Finnish sauna. They also have a reindeer farm. So glad I was recommended here. I'll post a few pics as well. But really, there's a reason Giellajohka gets top reviews. Brilliant please, it's like therapy for me, the calm and silence, at one with nature. Love it!
