Huangshan Bai Yun Hotel

Booked this hotel because of their high review score and perfect location. They didn’t disappoint. Of course cannot expect 5 star luxury on a mountain, but they more than made up with their hospitality. 宋书琳 personally took care of us. She made sure I felt right at home and experienced her kindness even after arriving back home in Shanghai.

Staying one night at this hotel turned out to be a fortunate decision — I will definitely return. The staff were kind and attentive, the room was clean and well-maintained, the buffet offered a wide variety of delicious food, and the location was ideal for accessing nearby scenic spots. Among the many things that impressed me, the most remarkable was the attentiveness of the staff. They were genuinely considerate, quickly recognizing our needs and going out of their way to assist. It’s clear that the hotel’s policies support and empower the team to deliver thoughtful service. Let me share one memorable experience: My son and I arrived at the hotel completely soaked from unexpected rain. The front desk promptly arranged a warm, comfortable room for us and even allowed check-in several hours earlier than usual. The room had a compact yet powerful clothes dryer that quickly dried our wet clothes. A staff member also brought us a shoe dryer and a cup of hot tea to help us warm up. Throughout our stay, the staff kept us updated via the WeChat app with helpful information — including weather forecasts, buffet reservation updates, and events like a cultural performance in the lobby. We were also offered thoughtful perks, such as a complimentary massage chair coupon. Although the cloudy weather prevented us from catching the sunset or sunrise at Guangming Peak, the excellent experience at the hotel convinced us to return this fall to try again. ⸻ What I Enjoyed: 1. A cozy coffee shop with around 10 tables in the lobby — perfect for relaxing with my son after dinner. 2. Snickers bars and Korean Choco Pies from a small self-service snack corner in the lobby. 3. Thoughtful in-room extras beyond standard amenities: two umbrellas, thermal jackets, and a foot bath bucket — great for unwinding after hiking. 4. Tasty fast food just 50 meters from the hotel — two hamburgers, three chicken wings, and crispy fries from nearby snack booths. These paired perfectly with two cold cans of refreshing Qingdao beer from the coffee shop fridge. 5. Guangming Peak — around 1,800 meters above sea level and only 500 meters from the hotel. The uphill stone steps took me 15–20 minutes to climb. 6. Xihai Cable Car Station — located about 15 minutes on foot from the hotel, offering another scenic way to explore the mountain.

The staff at this hotel really went above and beyond to ensure that we had a pleasant stay. It is really amazing to have such a hotel so high in the mountains.

The location was excellent, only about 20 minutes from the Bright Summit where you can watch stunning sunrise. The room was very clean, though the noise insulation was slightly on the lower end. The housekeeper Song Shulin was extra helpful by giving me tips and made me feel like at home, even though I do not speak Chinese, which I really appreciated! Plus, there was a small show in the evening! All in all, a very great place to stay at in Huangshan!

This was a phenomenal hotel and we are thrilled with our experience! At Bai Yun the location is unsurpassed. We were able to go right up to the sunset and sunrise and it is in a perfect location for the incredible views. As if this could be topped, we really have to say the staff were incredible. We’ve never been catered to as we were with Xiao Bi. She is incredibly attentive and kind and made a great stay perfect. Without asking she informed us of the best times and places for the view, personally brought us a welcome basket, invited us to a performance and, most amazingly, checked with us on the suitability of our room and gave us a fantastic one. Without a doubt a great experience and so happy to have had Xiao Bi!

Great excellent personalized service with lots of additional perks by Huang Customer Service Manager. She responded quickly to our questions. The upper floor was a bit noisy as you can hear the wind howling, proof that you are living on the mountain top!
