When we arrived, the power was off due to a fault in the area from lightning, however, the inn does not have a backup generator or solar for the whole property. This was quite disappointing considering we live in South Africa. We also had to request candles in our room rather than it being offered or brought to every room. The rooms and bathrooms were not in great condition and it needed a good clean and vacuum. The couches should be routinely cleaned, the couch in our room looked quite dirty as the white covers were turning brown. The carpets did not feel clean and had lots of burns in it from previous guests. The lights in our room were all mixed (warm white and cool white). For bedroom lighting, it should always be warm white for that cosy feeling. The lady who came to clean didn’t put new bags in our bin, would not have vacuumed if we didn’t ask and she didn’t wipe the counters/furniture when cleaning our room. However, the lady at the front desk did help us with sending bin bags after asking. The room did not smell clean when we arrived back from our day out. After going there for dinner two years ago and thoroughly enjoying the lamb curry, we were quite disappointed during this stay considering how expensive that meal is on the menu. My husband had a burger which he found quite bland. We went to the Mozambik restaurant the second night for dinner and that was incredible. The accommodation has so much potential (beautiful room sizes, good layouts, beautiful exterior look and feel and beautiful gardens), it just needs a lot of TLC and to be kept clean and tidy.
