Southwinds Inn by the Gold Nests

This place is a scam. We had 4 nights booked here and stayed 3 out of 4 but wish we stayed none. I initially thought this place was nice enough for the price but I noticed a musty smell that only got worse as our stay continued. I would wake up and had a hard time breathing, my eyes and nose were beginning to sting as i spent time in the room. There was black mold in the bathroom, and by our third day I could no longer continue staying here as the smell in the room was unbearable. I reached out to the owner and let them know the issue and let them know we could not stay for the final night and checked out by 11am, with hopes we could have a refund for the one night we were not staying. I gave the owners 24+ hours to respond to me with feedback about the situation but have received no response. I want to warn everyone that this place is a scam. Please do not stay here.

We were here for a business meeting on a Monday night. Southwinds Inn is a small, well kept, mom and pop in the best sense. Our room was immaculate! The kitchen had a cook top and an oven, clean pots and pans that were not junk and all the dishes and silverware you need. There was even dish soap and paper towels, and wine glasses. Dave, Harrison and Carlos are friendly and personable, and very welcoming. As corny as it sounds, they make you feel like you are at home. It is one block to the beach and there are a ton of little shops, "Pry Bars", restaurants and other attractions on the boardwalk along the beach. This would be a great place for a weekend or a week away, especially now since it is the slow time before the "Seasoners" come back. Truly worth it. Because they are so small, with only 10 rooms, one car per room is allowed to park. We wish we could give 4 1/2 stars.

The price at the Southwinds Inn attracts you because it is considerably less than the bigger fancier places. True, it is not on the beach, but less than a block away. And it is at the south end of the Broadwalk, away from some of the "action." The rooms are perfectly adequate, although not fancy. Need something? Dave, the loquacious owner and manager most of the year, will see if he has it, and will loan it to you. Need chairs for the beach? There are some there just to take. Not fancy you understand. Bicycles were piled up in the corner of the courtyard, probably also to borrow. Dave emails you to see when you are arriving, partly because there isn't really an office to walk up to if you show up late. You would have to know which apartment number is Dave's. As Dave said to me, "This place isn't the Taj Mahal." His office is a shed at the end of the courtyard. Downsides? The courtyard looks a little run down, but guests sit around there comfortably, and can grill if they want to. We were leaving early in the morning, so I checked out with Dave the afternoon before, no problem. The internet was a bit slow, but it was free and I have seen worse in big hotels. And no elevator: good exercise getting the bags up the second floor. This place is not designed to attract the rowdy partying crowd and it isn't trendy or fancy. Just a nice place to stay. If you are the fussy type, with high standards, you won't fit in or be happy. I think Dave would like all his guests to fit in.

We loved this place and have booked to return next year. The room was clean, efficient and has everything you need for your stay. It was very quiet and comfortable and we loved the proximity to the beach. Can't wait to go back!

Right off the boardwalk. Very clean! Recently updated. Free parking. This place is just feet away from the boardwalk. You can come and go to/from the beach, so many restaurants and night life. Highly recommend!

Hoy llegamos con una reservación de dos noches por 173 dolares la noche.Las personas del otro apartamento nos cogieron las sillas que nos pertenecían, tenían tremenda fiesta,tremenda bulla.Mi papá en silla de ruedas y mi mamá con problemas en la rodilla, no pudimos usar las sillas ni dormir,me comuniqué con la manager,me dijo que venía y nunca vino.NO SE LO RECOMIENDO A NADIEEE!!!
