Tierra del Mar Hotel - Adults Only

My friend and I stayed here for four days in March 2025 and it was honestly one of the most beautiful places I've ever been to! As someone who prefers my hotel to be a refuge I come back to after a day's wanderings as opposed to the location of the main event, the boutique, almost homelike feel of Tierra Del Mar was absolutely ideal. The "no loud music" rule and the main gate shutting after a certain time in the evening (requiring a provided key to come and go) might not be everyone's vibe for a tropical vacation, but I personally loved it for me it added to the oasis-like feel. But no need to worry if you're the more fast-paced sort, Tierra Del Mar is still located very centrally in Holbox, so if you are craving that hustle and bustle you're only steps away from the best restaurants, bars, beach clubs, and markets! The hotel's owner was extremely sweet and friendly and was always near enough at hand if we needed anything, and the staff was just as kind. I'm still looking through my photos from our trip and can't believe I had the chance to stay at such a beautiful, relaxing spot! Highly, highly recommend for the traveller who likes peace and calm alongside their adventures.

Consider the following before booking. We paid approx 170 euros pr night, (185 usd) which the place is by no means worth. 1. ANTS: Ants will be there, but ants multipel times in the bed, with the issue not being sorted until after our first night. Its not okay. 2. Second night, woke up at 04AM with smoke in our room. Their neighbour was burning stuff in the middle of the night at their cooking/fire area. Clearly they werent burning pure wood, and it didnt feel safe to inhale. 3. The last, but most serious problem for us, is the construction from 2 sites, one next door, and one infront. I work in the travel industry and was this Europe, and not letting people know at the time of booking, that there is construction noise, that will affect the hotel, heavy fines would be put in place. Why werent we informed about this matter, at the time of booking? As above, today at least its quite from one of the sites. So expect heavy machinery use, like powertolls etc. 4. Small things, there are almost no trashbins around, no fridge for storing water cold, no toilets down at the Swimming and lastly, they dont want you to wear sunscreen in the pool. The hotel took no responsibility what so ever, and dont care. You are just a wallet to them. You can def find must, must more affordable places to stay with better sourrendings, no ants in your bed, no unhealthy smoke in your room doing the night, and more quiet.

From the minute we arrived, we were welcomed in to the quiet little courtyard of the Tierra del Mar. I cannot give enough praise to our host Isra for getting us settled in and oriented to the island. We stayed here from the last Monday of 2024 to the first Monday of 2025. Isra helped us with getting a fine New Year's Eve dinner set up and assisting with arrangements from the hotel for various activities, such as an excursion to Chichen Itza. Highly recommend this small hotel, and the quality of the experience on Isla Holbox.

And here we go again! Seventh time in Tierra del Mar, what I can call now....my home in Holbox. In my opinion the best hotel for someone who is traveling solo (like me) and it is looking for a great combination of price/value, plus attention, a gorgeous place for adults only, super clean, and a staff that will go the extra mile to make you feel VIP! Thank you one more time for an unforgettable stay!

Really good hotel! The rooms were super clean, the location was good, and it was much quieter than other hotels. I appreciated the sense of privacy and personal attention, making it a memorable experience. The only thing that was missing was that the breakfast had to be in another hotel. Otherwise, I highly recommend!

This was my sixth time in Tierra del Mar, which is one of the reasons why I always come back to the island. Yes, the island is amazing, but Tierra del Mar makes you feel that you are at home. Constanza and Christian are so attentive and they have incredible staff. Tierra del Mar is an authentic gem in the island, where you enjoy a relaxing stay with the luxury of a five-star hotel while being in a boutique hotel. The attention to details, the gorgeous installations, the perfect location, the insuperable service is all in one! I actually had to stay in a different hotel at the beginning of my trip, because Tierra del Mar was fully booked, and I can tell you there is no comparison....I can't wait until my next trip, which I hope to be very soon! Constanza, Christian and all personnel at Tierra del Mar, Thank you for making me feel that I am at home with family! Miss you already!!!
