Moditlo River Lodge

Fantastic stay. Very luxurious place but without losing the wild spirit. Very attentive staff, especially the super cheerful driver Jika, the fearless “Casi” Caswell, the lovely Thuli and the top chef Steve. Very clean and comfortable room, top quality food and impeccable reception after each Safari! Highly recommended!!!

Very nice place to stay in Kruger. Our family is very glad. The employers are very Kind and attentious and the Guides are specialists on animal life. We could see much more than expected and live very special moments we will take with us for the rest of our lives.

What an unexpected gem of a property. From the pick up at the airport, check in to the all inclusive meals the experience did not disappoint. Our guides Reco and Mudoo made the whole safari experience a once in a lifetime time encounter. We asked for Rhinos and Cheaters and were not disappointed along with the other animals - elephants, lions zebras and giraffes. The staff were always welcoming when we returned with a cold face cloth and drink. The Chefs came and spoke to diners and on the whole a great experience showcased local food. Highly recommend this property for a stay at this part of Greater Kruger National Park.

After a long project in Cape Town, a small group of us ventured over to Moditlo for a little post work decompression getaway. For the two days we were there, we could not have had a better experience - a very nice and accommodating staff, great service, food and drink. After being home for just two days, a return at some point sounds pretty appealing. Yes, the facility was nice, but the safaris were great because of our guide - Jika. The dude has the knowledge, experience, and the jokes. Jokes so good he cracks himself up. He also scored us lots of animal sightings. The rooms, as well as the entire facility, were spotless and well-maintained. I'm not sure about any of the surrounding facilities in the area, but we enjoyed it because it was one of the smaller lodges without a lot of foot traffic and guest noise. The days are pretty structured in order to manage times for safaris, meals and relaxation. Again, we only stayed for two full days. However, there are other sites and activities to see and experience if you're considering a longer stay. Moditlo is situated in the Great Krueger area on a private reserve. We liked this best as it allowed us to see many animals and the area up close. If you stay in Krueger Nat'l Park, it's my understanding that you must stay on the driving paths and you may or may not have many up close animal sightings.

What a beautiful place, all the staff there were so friendly and helpful. The game drive, what a treat. I loved the elephants, especially when they were so close to the van. The coffee stop in the morning was good. Loved the sundowns, great snacks. And Wow the food was excellent. We had our boma evening in the river bed. Tried my 1st Kudu potjie and it was absolutely delicious. If want to treat yourself too a bush experience I would recommend Moditlo River Lodge. Thanks to all the staff for making it’s so good. And Chef Cayla and her team for the delicious meals we had.

Beautiful place and the staff is super kind and full of joy and really friendly. Rooms are really nice and food also very good. Jika and Caswell were great guides and tracker on our safaris and made the experience great. We had a really amazing time.
