Chateau de Hiéville

The pictures on the website do not do this amazing chateau justice. Just pulling up outside you immediately realise you are somewhere very special. We were greeted by the wonderful Stefane who was welcoming without being overwhelming. Our room (Brissac) was so much more than a room with a huge separate bathroom, a dressing room and a balcony overlooking the gardens and pool. The decor was perfect, tasteful and not overdone. Breakfast was home cooked by Stefane and total perfection. There are many different areas to sit in the beautiful gardens and the pool and pool house were also a great area to spend time in. Could easily have stayed for a week. We will definitely be back

This was an incredible place to stay! The owners were there to easily answer questions and make recommendations for things to do and dinner. Breakfasts are delicious and scenic as the breakfast room overlooks the backyard. Breakfasts are also local products and the owner's husband even makes the pastries! The rooms are clean and beautiful, and we had such a fun stay!

This is a beautiful place. Gorgeous grounds and stately chateau. Unfortunately, this did not work for us. The proprietors were nice but very clingy; for example, couldn’t take a walk without them hovering and letting me know places that I could and could not go to with the dog. There are a lot of rules, which we got bombarded with immediately on arrival. It felt controlling and restricted. The room was decorated in a funky way, which is fun, but it is fussy and cluttered not a lot of space for the guests’ things. The room was stuffy, but we were told we couldn't open the window. No fan or anything to help ventilate was provided. The main issue for us was we have a dog, which is allowed, but the room was at the top of three flights of rickety curved stairs. This made it ridiculously difficult to navigate up and down, especially with the dog. Also, they did not tell us they had a cat, who is very territorial and made our dog uncomfortable. Most places we’ve stayed with a cat have been fine, but this one was stalking and aggressive. It should be communicated to guests. The whole experience was not what we expected, and we felt so uncomfortable that we actually left early. It just wasn’t for us.

Beautiful chateau, top notch decor and the bread pudding for breakfast was out of this world good. we were welcomed with a glass of local apple cider. we strolled the grounds and the property is very enchanting. 10 out of 10

Stéphane et Christophe sont des hôtes remarquables. Leur galanterie et leur bienveillance nous plonge dans un cocon que l’on a plus envie de quitter. Leur générosité est incroyable, et leur bienveillance sincère. Les petits déjeuners servis dans de la belle vaisselle magnifient les délicieux desserts « faits maisons ». Le cadre est magique, calme, le confort est de mise. Tout était absolument parfait. Hâte de revenir

Notre séjour fut un vrai ravissement ! Tout était parfait et soigné. Merci à Stéphane et Christophe pour leur bon accueil, leurs précieux conseils pour les visites de la région et le choix des restaurants, le délicieux petit déjeuner de viennoiseries et de pâtisseries maison, jambon et fromages locaux servis dans une ravissante salle à manger. Le château est un bijoux où il fait bon vivre, décoration raffinée , chambres et salle de bains spacieuses et très propres. Des salons très confortables à disposition, un bel espace piscine au milieu d'un très beau jardin. La localisation fut idéale pour découvrir le Pays d"Auge. N'oublions pas les animaux de la maison: le petit chat Meringue, l'âne Cacahuète et sésame la petite chèvre. Un séjour entre nature et raffinement. Le paradis. Nous y retournerons !
