We stayed here for several nights during a birding trip in S. AZ. It is small, about 10 rooms, and well situated in Hereford for trips to Ash Canyon, Ramsey Canyon and other birding areas, as well as within a short walk of the San Pedro River. We did not see its grounds at their best, since we were there in January, with the added benefit of an unusual cold snap which depressed temps well below the usual - one morning the hotel thermometer read 9 degrees F! IN warmer weather the grounds, with their feeders and pond, as well as access to the nearby river will probably offer a fair number of birds even without leaving the premises. The rooms were spacious and clean, all facing the interior courtyard which would probably have been quite enjoyable absent the astonishing weather:) The communal spaces were very pleasant, and the communal family-style dining area was pleasant and accommodated all of the guests without crowding. The food was very good, with varied and delicious food for both dinner and breakfast, and my special dietary requests were accommodated without any fuss. Our two hosts were welcoming and always willing to assist, whether it was help finding the laundry, special diets, or just questions about the local area. Rumor has it that they are looking to sell, and I sincerely hope they find people who will carry on their tradition of eco-centered hospitality on the Southern border. My only caution about this place is the location - if you stay here you have to really want to be out birding, hiking or whatever, since there is absolutely no surrounding town, shops etc unless you want to drive about 30 min.
