We found black dots on the duvet cover. We requested to change but it took us to have long conversation with the manager in order to get that change. Other than that it was pleasant to stay.

Excellent stay at Riva in Helensburgh. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Would definately recommend this hotel :)

The view was not so nice, the room only got cleaned half the time i was there 2 out of 4 nights, the toilet was dirty sink blocked, and breakfast took 35 mins on day 1 for toast and bacon, so had to leave. wouldn't go back to see the view below. ps they said they would get the manager to call me, of course this never happened so i wrote my review.

We stayed here for a night on our Scottish touring holiday an were so pleased we had made this choice. The room was on the small side with lovely decor and the bathroom had some lovely smelly toiletries. The bed was comfortable and we had everything else we needed for a good nights stay. We ate out but came back and had a drink in the bar rea. The server was super friendly taking our order at our table and delivering the drinks with a smile. Breakfast was included with our room and although it was continental, there was so much choice to set you up for the day. The lady in charge at breakfast was very pleasant and we left very satisfied. Will definitely use this place again if in the area. Free car park across the way as well

The room had a huge stain on the ceiling, as well as a large number of dead flies in the overhead light. The taps and fixtures in the room were corroded. When we asked for a room change the two managers simply gave that room to another guest. Poor them. We had dinner too, and our orders didn’t match the menu (our meals claimed to be vegan and were not), and the same manager simply dumped the replacement on the table with no apology. The bread and olives had two slices of stale bread. I would like to add that the waitress who actually tried to look after us was lovely, and was clearly inhibited by truly awful managers who didn’t help her at all. None of this reflects badly on her. Make her the manager instead. This hotel is not luxury or "boutique", it’s sad, bad and overpriced.

From our arrival at the hotel we were warmly greeted by all staff and we were a bit early for check in but as our rooms were ready it was not a problem and we were allowed access . Some of the rooms are not spacious as it is a small hotel but recently refurbished with nice furnishings and beautiful walk in showers . We had booked for a meal at 6pm as it was part of the package,there was a good choice , the food was lovely and generous portions . While dining the manager Gary came to chat about our 5pm booking and the fact the company had just gone bust but to reassure us that they would honour our vouchers and they would take the £300 hit . So all in all we had a very pleasant experience at this hotel .

Ideal location, short walk from railway station and very close to all the amenities. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner in the hotel and everything was excellent. Comfortable bed, lovely decor, very modern with views out the sea, maintained to a high standard. Would highly recommend.

Sadly disappointed from arrival. Tiny rooms, broken and poorly maintained rooms and the woman on reception would be better working in a prison with her distinct lack of hospitality skills. £185 per night, a total rip off, unbearably hot room (2nd choice as first was so claustrophobic) the cleaning lady arranged for the 2nd room as the receptionist wasn't remotely interested in helping. The 'bathroom' in the room is just a joke, no full length mirror either, you can only check your appearance in the bathroom. We didn't bother with breakfast as was given zero instructions on times etc, was just glared at by the same receptionist this morning, not even an 'hello' (wearing same clothes as yesterday) she appeared to be eating the breakfast! Whoever owns this place needs to invest in either serious staff training or change the dragon at reception.

A nice hotel, in a great location, but very seriously understaffed. We visited for a weekend and were initially impressed by the hotel. It looks good and has a cool vibe to it throughout. But, seriously disappointed in a number of areas. Basic requests, such as needing a TV remote, took over 24 hours. Lack of adequate breakfast provisions and cold coffee, is really not acceptable. These issues, and others, could have been addressed very easily with adequate staffing. As a case in point, after our stay I contacted the hotel with a list of concerns prior to writing a review. Still awaiting any reply. I appreciate the challenge of getting staff, but as a paying guest I am paying for services not received. If they can get the service sorted then a great place, but until then I would be cautious.
