Camellia Inn

On the more positive side first, the Inn is in a great location, close to food, shops, and small tasting rooms. The one amenity that did ring true was the outdoor pool. It was warm annd inviting at the end of a long day, and appeared to be very clean. The grounds around it not so much. Sadly, this is pretty much It for the positives. We have stayed at many B&Bs in the Healdsburg area in the past, including The Camellia Inn. Things have certainly gone downhill since we stayed there last. Our room for this stay was described as a poolside modern. Not exactly what we wanted, but all that was available at the time. The room was located on the back of the house and was a remodeled garage sitting mostly under the first floor of the home. All of the guest parking was located just outside our room and so we had the displeasure each morning of car noise and engine fumes from vehicles warming up. The interior of the room would’ve been considered “modern” in the 1970’s. They boast that the room has a giant bathtub, but the only problem with that is they don’t supply enough hot water to fill it even halfway. As for the air conditioning, I could pass gas over the top of an ice cube and it would be colder. While they provide you a do not disturb placard for your door, that doesn’t do a lot of good when the kitchen is directly above your room and they begin making noise and dropping stuff on the floor above you between 6:30 and 7 AM. In their advertising, they speak of an evening wine gathering. When we inquired, we were told they haven’t done that since Covid, and instead they just put some wine and glasses in your room in the evenings. That didn’t happen either. On our last night, we decided to pick up a bottle of wine for our room. We had noticed that they had wine buckets, and glasses available at the entrance to the Inn, but I guess it was too much to expect that they might have a corkscrew available in wine country. My wife did call the after hours number to inquire if a corkscrew might be available, and as of this writing, we still have not received a call back. It has been our experience that at a B&B, the breakfast are generally something to write home about. The breakfast's were mediocre at best. One morning, they served us a few leafy greens with balsamic dressing, and some type of quiche that was cooked in some areas, and not in others. When you walk into the dining room in the morning, and stop at the coffee nook to get your coffee, tea, OJ, etc., by the time you get to your table, they’ve already served the morning yogurt and fruit, and before you barely even get started on that, they show up with your mediocre breakfast. So much for peaceful relaxation. Until (if) the inn gets it act together, recommend you look for other accommodations

The location is perfect for a fun weekend in wine country. Walking distance to fabulous restaurants, tasting rooms and shopping!! And a short drive to beautiful vineyards and wineries. Our bed was so comfortable, the breakfasts were amazing 🤩 and the staff was so very accommodating and friendly!!

we had a wonderful experience at the Camellia Inn. It is centrally located and within walking distance to many wine tasting rooms and restaurants. Our room was clean and private. Our breakfasts were tasty and adhered to our dietary needs. And the wines available at the Wilson family wineries were wonderful. We are planning on staying at a Wilson property on our next trip to Healdsburg.

Cute, clean, friendly and a very short walk to the town square. Staff were welcoming and accommodating. Seating in the manicured front yard was a highlight of the stay. Breakfast, coffee, cookies, wine...all great. We would very much like to go back soon

Perfect location, friendly staff, lovely room, wine & cookies in afternoon, great breakfast. The room even had a bathtub with jets. Fantastic value for the money. The only downside was no elevator, but they offered to carry our luggage for us (we declined).

The Camella Inn is a wonderful inn located within easy walking distance to downtown Healdsburg. Our room was spacious and breakfast was varied and delicious as well different each day. Our two hostesses were helpful will all questions we posed. Having a pool on the property was a big plus after a hot day of travel.

Stayed three nights the first week of June 2024 while on a wine tasting visit with two other couples. We had stayed here years go when the owner lived onsite and the Inn was an elegant, friendly and rustic place to stay. It no longer is. The inn is tired, in need of significant general maintenance and updating, and the staff is unbelievably uninvolved in your stay. Mold in the bathtubs, ventilation fans that sound like police sirens, pool area and koi ponds full of weeds and algae, common area furniture stained and shabby. When we asked a staff member about the vent fans we were advised “let it run long enough and it will stop”. No, it didn’t. When we were leaving at 8am the staff member had just come on duty yet did not greet us, ask about our stay (even though we had our bags ) or acknowledge our existence. There are a lot of places to stay in Healdsburg. We would recommend someplace else.

The Inn is a classic heritage building perfectly located near restaurants in the centre of town and our second stay, the first stay last year was in a comfortable, nicely appointed upper floor suite that we thoroughly enjoyed. Our recent stay was on a ground level renovated suite, which though clean and comfortable to sleep in, had very low ceilings and lacked important amenities such as a small desk and/or table. It was not a comfortable room to spend time in other than sleeping, and did not appear to even have a smoke alarm - though did have fire sprinklers. In summary, for the price charged it was poor value - and the absence of a smoke alarm was troubling.

The Camellia Inn is quaint and lovely. We were pleasantly surprised that we had never noticed this gem on our other visits to Healdsburg. We were there celebrating my niece's 21st birthday with some wine tasting. The free tastings offered by the Wilson Wineries were a plus, as we ventured out for two days. The light breakfast was lovely as was the wine offered upon arrival and freshly baked chocolate chip cookies. After a long day of traveling, we relaxed in the sitting room with a glass of wine and marveled at the home built in 1869. The neighborhood is incredibly walkable and we were able to get to at least 3 of the Wilson wineries plus one the other two of which my daughter is a member. We would definitely stay here again. The pillows and bed were comfortable, and the sitting area and bathroom were lovely. The room was very quiet and we had a fabulous time.
