For the price it’s hard to complain but from the get go we had many problems with our room. Firstly, the blanket was quite dirty. Then our door alarm kept going off due to low battery and it took about 2 hours for the guy at the desk to believe that something was actually wrong with the door. Then, the fridge broke and leaked water all over the floor. Finally, we changed rooms and our experience was better, but as we were located right next to the elevator we could hear the elevator going up and down all night long. Most of the staff are very nice and helpful except for the guy that works the overnight shift. Good location off the main road so you get minimal road noise, but as with most cheap hotels, people were in and out all night long causing noise from inside the hotel.

Staff were great; really friendly and accommodating! Really nice location to be in the thick of it but still quiet and relaxing at night so you can escape all of the chaos! Rooms were also really nice although the beds are quite firm but still a very comfortable experience

My partner and I are backpacking Vietnam for a month, traveling from south to north. Tung Trang was the perfect home base! Situated in a quiet alley so that we were able to get a good nights rest, while being in the perfect location, walkable to the old quarters. The family that owns the hotel are very sweet and lovely. Room is not big, but bed is comfortable, sheets are clean, bathroom is updated, balcony with a nice view. What more can you ask for a budget hotel!?

I agree with all the great reviews. Great location, clean, quiet (you cannot hear any street noise), comfy bed, good AC, minibar that stays on all day. The compassion and help that Nhung and her husband showed me when I lost my phone was above and beyond. She offered her phone at any time and made herself available every morning so I could text home (for 10 days!). She googled info for me, arranged for airport taxi and was so very supportive that I didn't feel I was hindered without a phone. Their printed map gives a very good perspective of the old quarter compared to Google. With it I was able to navigate Hanoi. When I left, I felt I was leaving friends, not a hotel.

Quiet hotel tucked in a laneway, close to walk to all sites, the train tracks, shopping, the lake. Nhung the manager she is so nice, friendly & helpful. We selected the balcony room which has chairs & potplants it felt like home. Nice size bathroom too, comfy bed, quiet

We can’t rate Huong and her family highly enough. Their hospitality and assistance was incredible. Although the hotel is in an alley off Hang Bong it is very central for everything in Hanoi. We walked to all the view sites and local restaurants with ease. The accommodation is very clean and our room was very quiet all the time. The lift is a great help at the end of a tiring day. Drinks and snacks and free water is provided and there’s a mini fridge in the room. Breakfast at a reasonable price was a delicious home cooked meal with fruit. We were provided with a map of Hanoi with many recommendations and our transport to Ninh Binh, train from Ninh Binh to Hue and our day trip to Perfume Garden were all organised efficiently. We really enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend you stay here at a very reasonable daily rate.

This was a fantastic stay with truly amazing staff. We stayed for 3 nights, the beds were large and comfortable. The bathroom was spacious with a waterfall shower which was lovely. But the best part of this hotel is the staff. Mrs Trang greeted us warmly, helped us set up a SIM card, arranged a wonderful day trip to Ninh Binh (highly recommended), was happy to arrange our transfers and do any phone calls needed. She was so incredibly helpful. She further provided us with home cooked breakfast which was lovely. I absolutely loved our stay here and it was close enough to the centre of Hanoi to get to everything but still quiet enough over night to sleep very well. This room comes with a fridge, water bottles provided (with charge for larger items), kettle, bathroom with walk in shower, balcony with cover, views of other buildings. Immediately opposite is a temple, and it can be accessed down a busy alley full of food vendors for traditional Vietnamese food. Easy access to turtle lake (15min walk). Great for backpackers.

This is a fantastic place to stay. Quiet despite its central location, our room was very clean and comfortable. It's a family run business and is friendly for that - we had so much help from the owner, from getting our room ready before check in, to booking taxis for us, and just generally checking in with us about our stay. Breakfast is recommended too, very good Phở among other freshly cooked options!
