Hanoi Buffalo Hostel

Better options in Hanoi. We booked through WhatsApp and given a price with messages to prove and when we arrived were quoted almost double. Staff were unhelpful. Bedsheets had blood stains on as well as brown marks… definitely cheaper, cleaner places to stay

Stayed here as we were doing the Ha Giang Loop. I definitely recommend going through buffalo hostel for this trip. In terms of the hostel itself, the lift was far too small. And you have to still walk up and down stairs to get to each floor even with using the lift, not disabled friendly, or ideal in general. Staff great and friendly. Beds were good, bathroom was good, lockers were big however make a musical tune when opening so isn’t ideal during the night when people are sleeping. Same to open the room door. Breakfast was okay.

I came here as an ‘older’ solo traveller… the average age I would say is between 20 and 24 but I never once felt out of place. Ly on reception booked everything for me… Ha Long bay, Sa Pa, ha Giang loop and Ninh Binh. Ly sorted all the transport and excursions. It was so easy to then just enjoy an incredible experience without the worry of thinking where I had to be and when. I’ve honestly had one of the best times of my life and met friends for life. Every excursion is extremely well organised and everyone is very helpful here. Vietnam is a beautiful country and I’m blessed to have been fortunate to see as much as I could fit in during my time here.

Great hostel! Very clean and spacious rooms with ensuites. Check in was very easy and communicating with the hostel was very easy before our stay/tour. The free walking tour was amazing it was 3 hours and was very informative. Our guide Luna was excellent, She was very funny and had lots of knowledge about the area. We also did the Ha Giang loop 3n4d tour which was excellent. It was well organised and easy to communicate with the hostel about the tour. I would recommend this hostel/tour to anyone!! Read less

Great location, clean hostel and friendly staff. The rooms were spacious, beds comfy and the lockers were huge and very secure. The staff are so helpful with anything you need, we booked the Loop with them and then straight to Sapa and they sorted it all out for us! We got a bit unfortunate that we were put in a room that was clearly used for people coming back from the ha Giang loop and would come in at 2/3am and make a lot of noise. Just be mindful when booking that if your room isn’t full the same might happen!

A very social hostel good for meeting people. The communal spaces were clean and plenty of plugs and strong wifi. The hostel is very social and loud which carries into the rooms. Great for young people traveling wanting to make friends, less so if you want to get a good sleep. The rooms left much to be desired. The room we stayed in was very dark and no form of natural ventilation. The only widow blinds didn't work so it was pitch black most of the time. The reading lamp in all the bunks was attached to the wall by the wires which felt unsafe. The door was extremely loud and with many people coming and going at all hours didn't bode well for a good sleep. The lockers were a bit hit and miss if they worked. The bathroom was alway very clean. They offer a free breakfast which we didnt have but it looked decent. I only rate this hostel highly because of the location and staff. It needs a refresh.
