We had a reservation for 4 nights with balcony and breakfast included.
First of all, the hotel is in good location, like many other hotels around the area, 10 to 15 minutes to most of the places in old town. This could be the only good thing about this hotel. We regret that we didn't read reviews thoroughly. Google reviews says 4.3 out of 5. But, something has gone wrong along the way.
Check in was smooth and easy as someone could expect. But, the unexpected, was the smell in the hotel lobby. It was something like fermented bamboo shoot if I have to describe. It was too bad that we never went down for breakfast because the restaurant is located on same floor and it's open type. And every time we had to pass the lobby to and from the elevator to entrance door, we just held our breath and run. We were on the 5th floor and it smelled like a damp rug. The hotel is located in a good location, but the surrounding area is quite dirty. There is no other way to describe about it. I Luckily, there was no smell inside our room.
The room was spacious, but, the cleanliness, this should be one star when it comes to it. There was long hairs in the bathroom, iron rusts here and there, ants here and there and many cigarettes butts outside the balcony. And the balcony looked like it was cleaned a month ago. The towels were greyish white. The toilet flush doesn't work properly. The hot water in the shower is incredibly slow. Wifi was too bad, we didn't even bother to call. Good thing that mobile data was cheap in Vietnam.
When it comes to the staffs, they seems nice. But, nice doesn't get you anywhere if a great service can't be delivered.
A few minutes after we checked-in into our room, someone suddenly opened the door and closed it right away without saying a word. We were surprised and confused at the same time. We called the reception and they responded that it was the housekeeping that opened the door because the room occupancy has not been updated yet at the moment.
During our stay, we asked for a softer pillow or a smaller one because the two pillows that they have in the room are so big and too firm. I couldn't imagine someone sleep on it and not have a neck fatigue. The receptionist said that they don't have any other pillows, so, we had to fold our small blanket and use it as a pillow our entire stay.
One day before we check out, we inquired about the baggage stowage service because we like to check out early and go for a day tour, and then straight to the airport. A tomboy-like receptionist (please excuse my language because we didn't get her name) said that "Yes, it's okay Sir!". The very next morning when we checked out, the same receptionist was telling us that " it's not possible because they don't have enough space for us. They only have space for customers who are checking in now." We said that we are also customers and we only have two luggages, one big and one small. And we already asked you about it yesterday and you said it was okay." But, the receptionist kept refusing to keep our luggages regardless of what was spoken previously and there were clearly spaces in the lobby or just outside the reception area (or anywhere in the hotel). It was very inconvenience for us, because before we booked the tour, we made sure that our luggages could be kept in the hotel as we check out.
Regardless, that receptionist kept saying "No!". We are extremely disappointed with the service and overall quality of our stay. Hands down.
Never again in this hotel!
