Ravanna Gardens is so beautiful! the staff, beach , pool, gardens all are wonderful and relaxing!! The food is out of this world!! On our first arriving at the hotel after a long journey we were sad to see building works going on next door, however’ this did not distract in anyway whatsoever from our enjoyment ! in fact once we knew that it is where their local spices are being made packaged and went to Australia all employing local people we soon snapped some up! lOur luggage was immediately taken to our beautiful huge room with a view of the ocean , a gorgeous bathroom with an outside shower to enjoy the nature, all enhanced by superb cleanliness the whole of our stay! Being an eco credentials hotel we were pleased to acknowledge that they would only clean our room every 3 days unless we wanted anything else, which we were more than happy with, who needs a towel or linen changed each day really anyway , that’s just such a waste of resources and environmentally unfriendly, and would not be done at home! The pool was beautiful for laps before breakfast and dips in during the day. The beach like all beaches in Sri Lanka are not without rubbish and Sri Lanka as a whole should deal with that environmental issue. At the end of the beach, 500m from the hotel beach entrance is a harbour wall with a fun and safe swimming area. There are also some small sea pools intermittently dotted along the beach with a lovely clear blue shallow sea for a cool down. The hotel is all about looking after you and this they do well , we cannot rate all the staff highly enough, wanting to make your stay as best as possible they really cannot do enough. The food is exceptional, organic, local, fresh, freshly prepared to your own taste. Each night was a special treat and very unexpected! Lots of activities both with a cost and free can be arranged. The fishing boats are wonderful to watch in the mornings. Bike rides to the temple is a must inside reveals what happened during g the tsunami. must! and go to the local shops to see the real Sri Lanka and you never know you may be able to help a family make heir lives a little easier. Enjoy Sri Lanka but remember its had a really hard time and needs us tourists. Wish we had stayed longer!! Enjoy its local and wild charm, 5star is not all about bling!!
