Château Saint Gilles

We stayed here for a couple of days before heading to Paris for the Olympics and couldn't have been happier with it. I wish we'd had more time there. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating. It's absolutely beautiful. There's a pool, perfectly manicured grounds, clean, well-maintained property with big rooms, comfortable beds and showers. It's very close to Bayeux but slightly outside of the downtown area so it's quiet and relaxing. They have a lovely little restaurant that's open most of the day. They serve produce they grow onsite and wonderful Calvados and cider from the region. There's a nice breakfast spread with the best coffee machine ever. Special thank you to the three young ladies who served us dinner on August 1st. They were delightful. It was a perfect homebase for our visit to the D-day beaches. Unfortunately, I just took pics of the food but go see it for yourself.

We needed a place to stay for a few days in Bayeux as our tour group was planning to visit the Normandy WW2 sites. This Chateau was exactly what we needed after experiencing the busyness of city life in London and Paris. This place is nestled in the countryside of Bayeux. The buildings and grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. It is very quiet and peaceful. The rooms are spacious with all the needed amenities. The choice of wines and beverages was very good. The food was EXCELLENT. The vegetables are grown on site and are fresh. There is only one washer and dryer, so if that amenity is needed you may need to drive into town. We absolutely loved our stay here and if we’re ever back in this area, we WILL return. I highly recommend this place.

My husband and 7yo daughter stayed for 2 nights in a family suite. The room was impeccably clean, spacious and had lovely views out over front lawn. It was close to Bayeux for local tourist attractions. The breakfast and dinner were wonderful and had children’s options at both. The hot tub and sauna open now (October) were a lovely surprise. Staff excellent, especially the masseuse who kindly dealt with an awkward issue involving another guest with discretion and efficiency. His massages were great too. Would seriously consider coming back with friends next time.

Lovely place to stay if visiting Normandy - close enough to Bayeaux to explore, but the hotel serves as a nice country side reprieve. Room was top notch, as was the service. We throughly enjoyed our stay here and would definitely come back if in the area.

We stayed with a tour group for three nights. The rooms are well appointed, quiet, with all toiletries included. The buffet breakfast had many options with local products from the region. We enjoyed two group dinners at the restaurant that were very tasty. All the servers and staff were extremely friendly.

This proprerty is an absolute treasure--I absolutely recommend it for a stay in beautiful Normandie. It is located near Bayeux and the towns along the D-Day beaches, etc. The grounds are expansive and immaculately kept. The staff are welcoming, friendly yet professional in attitude. All the staff we encountered spoke French, English and some a few other languages. The rooms had individual layouts but each was thoughtfuly appointed, incredibly comfortable and roomy. The breakfast was varied , fresh and tasty, with offerings for both European and North American (and other!) tastes. We also ate dinner in the dining room for 2 of the 3 nights we stayed here--excellent menu choices beuautifuly presented, and many wine and drink offerings. The amenities in the grounds included sauna, hot tub, an outdor pool (seasonal); spa treatments are available. Another nice touch was the self-serve laundry, (no coins needed!) including soap. Appreciated as we were on a 13 day tour. You could also send laundry out for cleaning. If staying here make a point of walking around the grounds as you'll discover some lovely gardens, and livestock (Sheep, cow, donkey!) So if travelling to Normandie, do yourself a favour and treat yourself to this exceptional property.

This chateau was so beautiful, quiet and close to Bayeaux, Normandy Beaches and the Normandy cemetery. The staff is so kind and speak beautiful English. The breakfast and dinners were outstanding.

Our room was spacious andd comfortable,, bathroom and shower area spacious. the main problem was that there was a very steep circluar staircase that you had to climb to get from the door to the bedroom, it was so narrow that we could not get the suitcase up the stairs so we left the suitcase downstairs and had to run up and downstairs to get stuff out of our suitcase; we are not big people so we could manage the stairs very well but some people would not be able to manage this. Our breakdfast was very good both mornings. Staff were scarce to find most of the time except for breakfast time.

We cannot wait to go back. Everything about this place is amazing...the rooms, the food, the staff, the grounds, the story behind it. We highly recommend staying at Hotel Chateau Saint Gilles.
