We recently returned from a stay at voco Guangzhou and would like to share our experience.
The hotel enjoys an excellent location — centrally situated with a wide variety of eateries and shops nearby, making it convenient for both leisure and exploration.
We had booked two premium twin-bed rooms and specifically requested adjacent rooms during a pre-arrival phone call. Unfortunately, upon check-in, we were informed that adjacent rooms were unavailable. Instead, we were offered two rooms with another room in between. However, when we reached our floor, we discovered that the rooms were actually separated by at least four other rooms, which left us feeling slightly misled. Despite this, we chose to accept the arrangement.
On a positive note, the rooms were spacious, clean, and well-appointed. We appreciated the daily provision of herbal tea and particularly liked the bathroom mirror that remained clear and fog-free even after a hot shower. The inclusion of an ironing board and iron and umbrella (as it was rainy season) was also thoughtful.
That said, the air conditioning system could be improved. During our stay, the weather in Guangzhou was quite hot, and we found the air conditioning difficult to regulate — at times it was overly cold, while at other times it felt stuffy.
Service-wise, the hotel staff were warm and attentive throughout. Special mention goes to Mia, who assisted with arranging airport pickup, and Wyman, who kindly helped us secure tickets online for the Canton Tower. Other staff members were equally helpful, especially in assisting with our luggage during both arrival and departure.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at voco Guangzhou and look forward to choosing this hotel again for our future visits.
