Guangzhou Simple Residence Hostel

One should never go to this hostel. The address mentioned in the booking is not there and if you call the owner, he is not giving a proper answer, he does not know English. Just say, message me on WeChat app. There is a lot of theft there, there is not a single guest whose thing has not been stolen. There are a few guests and locals there who have been staying for many months. the toilet doesn't work either. Plz don't go there plz plz I don't understand why Trip.com has kept this in their app

Good Its nic3, quite an very accessible place.

Very hard to find the place (only because of bad instructions). It took me one hour to find it. No reaction when I contacted the hostel through “trip.com messages service” and asked for help. And nobody to pick up the phone. When I arrive, there was a mistake: they thought I had already checked in and my had been given to another person. Noise until 2:30 am. Finally, cleanliness far behind what we can expect from a hostel.

The location on the map is incorrect. When you book they send you a series of photos so you have to search for this place for 30 minutes. There is no one working here. I couldn't open the front door and had to wait for someone to open it for me. The bed is 1cm thick and very hard. Any movement anyone makes in bed is very loud. People talk on their phones at night in the room at 1am. The bathroom is so dirty I couldn't use it. There are no western plugs, despite that every place I stayed in china has them. I booked two nights and left after one. Waste of money. Felt the whole time like I was being scammed.

This is a very strange hostel that basically is not managed at all. It is self check in, with instructions given over messaging. The facilities are not well kept. The bed mattresses are so thin that my bones start to hurt from pushing into the hard bed frame. The sheets are not assembled onto the bed and the duvet cover is not put on the blanket. Each guest has to make their bed by themselves. The sheets also have an oily smell to them, as if they are not washed well. There are no towels provided and no free drinking water. When I mentioned some of these points to the manager over WeChat, they tried to tell me this was normal for youth hostels. They tried to tell me that they don't provide towels due to "hygiene issues". I have traveled in over 100 hostels across Asia (many which are cheaper than this one), and have never experienced such a lazy operation that makes each guest put their own sheets on the bed and towels are not provided due to "hygiene issues". Drinking water and bath towels are basic necessities that come standard with hostels. Additionally, one of the toilets was also broken while I was staying there. The bathrooms are very run down and dilapidated, with paint peeling off all of the walls. The only decent thing about this hostel is the proximity to the metro system and the interesting travelers you can meet there. However, when I spoke with the other travelers they all agreed with me that this hostel was quite poor in quality and not operated to a satisfactory manner.
