I'm usually a big fan of Holiday Inn's, had some great experiences whilst travelling - until I came to Grimsby. First of all, why are they charging their customers to park at the hotel? Surely they should get it for free, as we have chosen to stay with them. Anyway, onto the hotel rooms. We checked in seamlessly, got into our room, and it was all fine - just how you expect a Holiday Inn to be. A few hours later, we start hear dripping. The aircon unit had broken, the ceiling had flooded, and the carpet was drenched. We called reception, who then gave us a new room. When I say I had the worst night sleep, it was truly horrendous. The mattress was super hard and springy, they pillows we're flat and extremely uncomfortable - I tried complaining but didn't seem to get anywhere, even when I got home I emailed them directly and nothing was done. Now, onto the breakfast. Dry croissants, stale muffins, broken juice machine, microwaved eggs, and stale bread - what an awful selection. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn in Sunderland many times now and that breakfast selection is EXCEPTIONAL! I was expecting the same replicated here, but how wrong was I. I would strongly refrain from staying here if you want a good night's sleep, and a nice breakfast the following morning - many other better hotels in the area with much better customer service on reception too!
