Viticcio

We loved taking a tour here! The woman showing us around was super knowledgeable of the wine industry, history of Chianti, and of their wine. After the tour, you do a tasting of various wines and they were all delicious. It was about a 50 minute drive from Florence and we took the scenic route.

I'm Italian and I know the area from my childhood. I organised this trip after almost 20 years abroad to re-visit Chianti and Il Viticcio has been a dream come true, exactly the experience I wanted! I was proud to show the beauty of the region to my partner. The apartment Dolce Arianna was beautiful and clean, with a lovely patio. The swimming pool overlooks the vineyards, the whole location is just stunning. Lorena welcomed us warmly, she's been incredibly nice and friendly and she was also our host for the winery tour. We really enjoyed the way she shared her passion and knowledge for good quality wine with us. A wonderful stay!

My wife and I came for the day to tour the winery, have lunch, and do a wine tasting. I was there in September so the grapes were on the vine and the harvest process was in full swing. Matteo was our guide for the day and he was instrumental in helping make this day so memorable and enjoyable. I loved seeing, smelling, tasting, and learning about the end to end process of wine and wine from Chianti. The tastings were generous and I took home several bottles afterwards. Additionally, lunch was a generous portion of absolutely beautiful and fresh food. I wholeheartedly endorse.

This is a dreaming place… Wow ! Typical toscane architecture, beautiful Winery and an amazing staff !!!! You all were so generous, sympathic and enriching ! You are bitting in your knowledge to share your passion to us. I recommand for sure :) Thanks again !

We spent two nights at Fattoria Viticcio and thoroughly enjoyed it. Check in was a little tricky as we were late and the hotel didn't advise us that there was a 6pm cutoff, but they left very detailed instructions so it all worked out. Room was as per the pictures- very nice overall, spacious, good kitchen, not a "4 star hotel" but we didn't pay for one. Beds are a bit hard, bathroom fixtures a bit chintzy. Grounds are lovely, pools are fantastic. Winery tour and tasting was great, Olivia was our guide and was very knowledegable and engaging. Viticcio is a 5-minute drive from Greve in Chianti, so lots of opportunity to pop in for a meal in a restaurant or some groceries.

Upon arriving in Florence, picking up a car, 4 of us ventured off in the pouring rain towards Fatoria Viticcio. The GPS took us through a beautiful stretch of the iconic Cypress trees as we navigated a washed out dirt road which reminded one of road rally. Once we reached the Winery however, everything came together. Lorena could not have been more fun, helpful, accommodating and above all, knowledgeable, as a trained Sommelier, of the wines and the wine making process. She treated us like VIP's as we were the only one's at the winey at the time. She was an absolute pleasure, expertly taking us through the many wines of Viticcio which we found to be exceptional, especially the Gran Selezione and the wonderful 2015 and 2016 Reservas which we could compare side by side. The Vermentino was a very pleasant surprise, as well being a superb representation of the grape. She also helped us find a local pharmacy and gave us some great tips on area restaurants. We will definitely be coming back to Viticcio to spend time at the winery and we'd highly recommend Fatoria Viticcio and Lorena as a must see, and taste, stop in Chianti.
