St George Hotel Great Yarmouth

Great hotel rooms...run down when u walk in but don't let that put u off as the rooms are great...u also get microwaves and fridges in ur room as well as bottle of waters...

THE HOTEL IS SITUATED IN A VERY GOOD PART OF GREAT YARMOUTH. THE ROOM HAD VERY GOOD LIGHTING AND IT WAS CLEAN

This was a solo trip for 2 nights. I checked in about 16.30, and check-in was quick and straight forward. The hotel is old fashioned and very dated, this includes the carpets, decor, furniture, & the lift. I found the Staff that i did encounter, to be helpful and friendly and accommodating. My room was also dated, the carpet was old, and had shifted away from the wall in places, but clean, however I did move the bed and saw that the carpet was not cleaned underneath. There were 3 beds in my room, even though there was only 1 person on the booking, this must have been a family room. All beds were clean (I did my tests) and the bed that I chose to sleep in was very comfortable and I enjoyed my sleep! My room consists of an on-suite bathroom, a large modern flat screen TV, free WIFI, a microwave, a fridge, a kettle, 4 tea mugs, along with tea bags, coffee sachets, milk pods, & 4 bottles of water, the water was also stocked up daily. I had a set of double chest of drawers, and a double wardrobe, which were quite modern, there was also a table with a small lamp I only had 2 major faults, 1st one was that my bedroom door did not lock once I was inside, I did feel safe at all times, but I did also use one of the spare beds as a door barrier before i went to bed. The 2nd fault was that the shower had no pressure whatsoever, and was more like a dribble, which meant that showering took a lot longer than normal. on arrival i noticed that my remote control was faulty and they were up straight away to sort the problem for me, so I'm confident that had I complained about the door and the shower, the hotel would have tried their very best to sort out the problems for me, I just did not have the time as I was literally only there to shower and sleep. I looked around before choosing to stay here, other hotels were charging £236 for a 2 night stay. I managed to booked this hotel for £72!! The hotel also has free parking If and when I decide to come back to Great Yarmouth, I will definitely be coming back here to stay. it was well worth the price.

Booked to stay here 22-24 Aug. Arrive and parking outside easily. Got to room and was very standard, but I didn’t expect too much anyway as it was cheap. The room was clean and had kettle, microwave, fridge and tea and coffee provided. Although room and hotel areas were clean, they were VERY dated. Only real complaints we had were that the en-suite bathroom door did not shut. It was a sliding door that left a great big gap, and the lock didn’t work either! Parking was an issue when we went out during the day and come back, couldn’t park at all, so whilst it advertises free self-parking, you’ll be lucky to get a space. We actually left the night before we were due to check out, just because the room was overly hot at night and very cramped and with three in one small room, it was just too hot. In summary, if you’re looking for a no frills place to just spend the night, this hotel is good for you. If you’re looking for somewhere to spend a bit of time during the day, or early evening, then not the hotel for you..

Very basic but functional, needs a lot of updating from which I gather is on going . No food or bar but the rooms do have fridge & microwave , plenty of water/ tea / coffee/ milk in the room. Wardrobe in the room was a bit pointless as had to climb over bed to get to it

Great location, about 10 minutes too the town, Hotel was a bit dated, apparently hasn’t come back from pre lockdown, as bar and restaurant haven’t opened up since. Having said that, the staff are very friendly, room was cleaned every day, bottles of water supplied for tea, for the price we paid, can’t really fault it.

ok we know where it is and not the best area in run down seaside town ? much like most of them in the UK (mainly due to influx of east europeans,looking for affordable accomodation,not a slur on Nationality),this hotel has probably seen better days..BUT the room was spotless (very HOT due to main Sash window in bedroom not able to be opened..so we opened shower room window !!) could not work out shower, so we had a refreshing cool one lol. Garden/Courtyard seemed very busy and noisy at 3.30 in the morning ? but hey we,ve all been their if not get a life. Would we come back..certainly..close to all amenities but AVOID ..Harry Ramsdens Fish and chips..10 minutes down rd TOBY..excellent value All you can eat food..Cheers

If you are reading this and thinking of booking, don’t! We booked two rooms, the first one was terrible and the second one was worse! Neither had any hot or even remotely warm water so showers were out. One bathroom looked like something out of psycho and the other was dirty and had a dead bug in the shower. The walls are paper thin and the floors uneven and squeaky The room was so cramped we were tripping over our cases as there was nowhere to put them other than the tiny walkway at the end of the beds. The beds were old and squeaky but the bedding was at least clean One room smelled of stale smoke The curtains were transparent and shut out no light The windows didn’t open The ceilings had damp patches and the main light in one of the rooms didn’t work It looks like you get a lot for your money in theory but it’s all so old, uncomfortable and dirty that I would never go back. Pay a bit more and you won’t feel like you’re in Fawlty Towers crossed with Psycho!

I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me, greeted by a miserable guy on reception who said two sentences then never saw again, room was clean but so run down, broken furniture, rusty fridge, shower was so hot it could have took your skin off and the drain was blocked, tv was on the blink and barely worked, to be honest it looks like the place hasn't been touched in 20 years and if it wasn't for the odd guest I saw I would have thought it was abandoned, hotel bar in the pictures might look nice but was never open, and on every street around it seemed to be burnt out buildings, wasn't expecting miracles and was still disappointed!
