Black Horse Hotel

My fiancé and I visited The Black Horse during our first evening in Grassington & dined in the Morral Restaurant. What a great start to the holiday! The food was delicious (& reasonably priced) and staff were very friendly & helpful. We will definitely visit again. *****

We stayed at the Black Horse for 2 nights on a deal whereby the second night was free. The hotel is right in the centre of beautiful Grassington with all its amenities and walks nearby. We were in Room 15 which was a premium king with views. The room was on the 2nd floor looking down towards the main square. There wasn’t a lift. The bed was very comfortable and the towels were big and fluffy. The room wasn’t huge but had everything we needed and we particularly loved the complimentary extras like the beers, popcorn, crisps and the homemade shortbread. The room had a nice bathroom with large shower and even had a window, which was great for natural light and fresh air. I think it would’ve been better if we could’ve adjusted the room temperature ourselves but apart from that we had no complaints. The view of the sun setting from our room was amazing. The restaurant was called the Morral and the pre order breakfast was delicious and served promptly. We ate dinner there both nights and the food and service were very good. We really enjoyed the Thursday burger night where you could have burgers for 2 people for £25. They were very tasty and great value. We can’t wait to visit the Black Horse again.

The reviews suggest we should give this place another try, but staff seemed unfriendly and stressed, even though it didn't seem busy. Only four people in the restaurant but snappy staff member said they couldn't fit my wife and I in due to sudden high number of orders. We sat for a while and it didn't get much busier. Had thought we'd spend most of our evenings eating and drinking here but didn't go back having found the Devonshire Arms to be just the opposite, in that it was friendly, helpful with great food and superior/excellent ales so that's where we spent the next three evenings.

We were staying locally and decided to book here for an evening meal, we have been many times before, and never been disappointed. Things have changed since, re branding of the restaurant, and in my humble opinion, i think they have taken things up a notch. Cant fault this place, the atmosphere, the staff are very attentive and pleasant, the food was plentiful, the quality was awesome, the whole experience was a pleasure. ( i had the Chicken, leek and smokey bacon pie) .... all i can say is that was a winner, winner, chicken dinner.:)...sorry no pictures... to busy eating it...Overall a great dining experience, sat outside after a lovely day, it was so peaceful, perfect end to a perfect stay. We had a wonderful relaxing evening dinner at The Black Horse.. they were busy but fitted us in at short notice. We had the 'Mexican' dishes - Tex Mex and Fajitas.. and thoroughly enjoyed the food. A lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere.. the staff were really nice and engaging and altogether a really nice evening out.

Didn't eat here just popped in for a pint. The menu choice did look good though, and the bar and restaurant area were very busy with diners, so maybe we will eat here in our next visit The staff were friendly and the place had a nice atmosphere
