Casa Grande Hotel

This was a bit of an unexpected surprise on the Camino. Yea it’s a bit expensive but this is a first class place. The meal I had was easily one of the best in Spain. To be honest the meal and room in the end were not much more than a good business class hotel in Toronto or Vancouver. Husband and wife team, nice rooms, good beds, Cafe in the room. If you have the resources it’s a good option!

Amazing boutique hotel in the heart of La Rioja. The property has been recently refurbished and it’s located in a quiet town. It has open spaces to read and a very nice restaurant. The service is extraordinary! Monica, the owner, made us feel like at home. Totally recommended. Will be back!

Booked here on the Camino, no one was here to receive our bags from Correos, said we had no booking, then tried to charge us 5Eur per bag per day for 'storage', claimed it is common practice in Spain - which it's not. Do not stay here if you are a pilgrim, we got the sense they do not like pilgrims. If I could I would rate it zero!

This is a high end boutique hotel that will have you wondering why it’s located in Grañon. Regardless, the hotel is beautifully designed inside and out, and it boasts amazingly comfortable rooms and an exceptional restaurant. Our room was large and featured a king size bed that had a mattress that makes you feel like you’re sleeping on a cloud. Everything was perfect: plush towels, shower with strong water pressure, strong WiFi, good A/C, etc. We ate dinner in the restaurant, which I’ll review separately. And our room rate included breakfast, which meant you could cooked anything on the menu. It was a fantastic stay, and it made me forget I was even on the Camino.

We booked the property back in March to arrive on the 26th of June via ***********. On the 18th of May I received the email from *********** notifying me that the property changed the name but my booking was valid and I didn't need to do anything. On the 18th of June I emailed the property to book the dinner at their restaurant for the night we were supposed to arrive. I was absolutely shocked by the reply I got: "We are sorry to inform you that you do not have any reservations at the hotel. We are the property and we have recovered the hotel a few weeks ago. Any reservation that you have made with the previous manager or with Booking, we do not accept them. Get in touch with the channel that made the reservation and have them solve the problem. If you want to stay at our hotel, you must make the new reservation. If you are interested, we will inform you of the prices". As you can imagine, the price they were now charging has doubled from 340euro for 2 nights to 590euro. So out of pure greed, they decided not to honour the bookings made with the previous owner or via ***********. But what is even worse they never bothered letting me know that the reservation wasn't going to be accepted. I had to contact Booking who continued to assure me that the reservation was valid as the hotel never informed them about this cancellation. So if I hadn't tried to book the dinner, I would have ended up showing up at the property only to be told that I had no reservation! And all of that just 6 days befere the planned arrival! So if you don't want to find yourself in a similar situation, I would recommend avoiding at all costs.

This company are very dodgy booked through *********** in January to stay in one of there hotels in Spain and I since found out the hotel I'm booked to stay in March has closed down. No email or phone call and with 2 weeks before I fly it's left me in a massive hole. Won't answer my calls, emails, what's app or dm please avoid and book with a proper company
