Gouvia Hotel

Lovely little hotel a stones throw away from a pretty little pebble bay perfect for a refreshing dip. The staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly at all times. The hotel is very quiet and peaceful with a lovely large pool and lots of sun beds, the whole hotel is kept clean and our rooms were refreshed daily with clean towels and bath mats, beds made and bins emptied. The rooms were of a good size for us as we only use them as a base for exploring, lots of storage, a hairdryer and tv. The aircon unit is noisy and old so could do with replacing, the downside being a dated and tiny bathroom with a very tiny window that did not open, so by the end of the week it was very damp and smelly. The water is mixed with salt water. Food was delicious, we are not fussy and like to try everything, no English tea so take your own if you like a morning cuppa. Gouvia is the perfect base to explore Corfu, the local shop and bar owners are super helpful and friendly.

Just returned from a lovely 10 night stay at Hotel Gouvia. The hotel is ideally located in central Gouvia and is an ideal base for a holiday in Corfu. The room we opted for was basic but suited our needs during our stay. The room was cleaned daily with fresh bedding and towels each time. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis which was ideal for us. The breakfast is plentiful with a wide range of fresh fruits, cereal, yogurt, cakes & pastries and a great selection of hot foods such as eggs bacon tomatoes and savoury pastries to name a few. The staff are friendly and always on hand to offer advice about days out and places of interest. I swim daily when at home so for me the pool was a massive bonus as it is a decent size where you can actually swim and was not full of kids on inflatables like you get in other places. We really enjoyed our stay and would definitely return if we visited Corfu again. Thanks to everyone who made our holiday a pleasant one. Yammas!

just got back after 10 days in this hotel, the staff were very good, rooms cleaned every day, pool was spotless and clear, breakfast was help yourself, full english and continenal. dinner was ok but you were not given a choice of starters main meal or sweet, sometimes we liked what was given out sometimes we did nt its up to the individual taste. next door is a very cheap cafe so sometimes we went there. would we go back to this hotel, yes definitely. aircon a little bit expensive but we bought a fan from the big green supermarket up the road for 17.50 euros so saved some money. don t forget to tip the cleaners they work 7 days a week and ours was in her 60s bless. enjoy your stay.go on the beach go past the little shop and you get 2 sunbeds an umberella 2 bottles of water for 12 euros

My partner and I have just enjoyed a lovely week at the Gouvia Hotel. The staff were pleasant, helpful and friendly and went out of their way to ensure we had everything we needed. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and when we requested a move to a ground floor room, this was sorted by the lovely Martha on reception, with no fuss and no additional charge. The pool was lovely, clean and very quiet as it was early in the season. We had visited Gouvia before and still love the area, will come back to this hotel again. One very minor point, having read previous reviews we knew to bring our own travel kettle - I need my early morning coffee well before 8am when the restaurant opens for breakfast!!

Overall the stay was adequate. The receptionist was nice and accommodating. The bedroom was absolutely fine and beds were comfy. However… the shower. You had to hold it yourself it wasn’t fixed to the wall and this was very annoying. The food at breakfast was was okay, nothing special but it was nice to have the option to have a free breakfast if we wanted one. The pool is quite big so that was nice.

We are regular travellers. I rarely post negative comments but want to give the hotel some points to help them improve so that British tourists keep coming. First of all there is no lift so the spiral marble stairs could pose a problem for anyone with mobility issues. The rooms are very small with poor furniture which doesn't fit. The bedside cabinet faces the bed so the drawers don't open, the wardrobe doors don't open wide enough to enable the inners drawers to open. The balcony is tiny. Coffee making facilities would be a nice touch. The bathroom is tiny and very old fashioned. The pool area is adequate but the sunbeds and umbrellas are ancient. Unless the area is cleaned in the middle of the night I didn't notice it being done. Breakfast is very basic but adequate. The resort is ok. Litter pickers would be a good idea on beach. There are some lovely restaurants in resort. Overall there are better, cheaper places to go. I'd try Spain or the canaries. Don't get me started on the airport. Extremely disappointed. Some people missing flights due to the inadequate staffing and facilities. Turkey is good. Might go back there soon. I hope this doesn't cause offence but people's general expectations are higher than when Greece was rubbish but cheap. It's now expensive but standards haven't improved. Must try harder.
