Seegasthof Hois'n Wirt - Hotel mit Wellnessbereich

I’ve been coming to the Hois’n Wirt Seegasthof Hotel for over thirty years. The hotel is situated 5 km from downtown nestled right on bank of the Traunsee lake and behind it rises the Traunstein, the highest mountain in the Gmunden district. Its summit rises 1,691 meters (5,548 ft) above the lake. The hotel has a private beach area for swimming and a dock that services the ferries that transport passengers to key destinations. The hotel is big enough to accommodate wedding parties and yet secluded and intimate for couples or family vacations. It is a family run hotel with generations of history and everyone is treated like family. Every staff member is professional, yet personally accommodating to your personal needs. The rooms are immaculate and most have a lakeside view. Half board provides first class meals with a diverse menu (see photo) and, when the weather is nice, outdoor dining is a delight in full view of the lake. If you love to swim, hike, boat or merely relax, the Hoisn’ Wirt is the picture perfect setting. This year we came with a group of 12 and had access to the seminar room which was the ideal setting for our group discussions, presentations and planning. Currently, a full service pool and spa is being constructed next to the existing hotel for those who enjoy wet and dry sauna and massage. It is indeed, my home away from my California home.

I’ve been a guest of the Hois’n Wirt for over 30 years and my experience is like coming home to family. The hotel is 5 km up from the main town which makes it extremely quiet and picturesque. But getting to town is easy with the Lake’s ferry system and the dock is right outside the hotel. The staff is professional, personal and fun. The food is first rate. The prices are inexpensive for the food and lodging they provide. We had a group of a dozen folks and made use of their seminar room to conduct our board meetings morning and evening. Any special needs one has, the staff is eager to provide. We had other friends from the area join us for dinner and were accommodated with ease. Before I came I asked if they still served my favorite beer - Kaiser Doppelmalz, not knowing they had discontinued it. To my surprise they purchased a case to have plenty on hand for my party. I can’t wait to go back, especially since next year they will have their new spa finished next door.

In terms of restaurants the disappointments are generally bigger than the restaurants. I guess that as the sums of money are more important, the satisfaction or dissatisfaction are greatly varying. We spend money on 5 stars hoping a great return. Normally we are dissatisfied. Then we also try out hotels that are no 5 stars, but are at the lower ranking. Guess what ? We normally have more pleasant surprises !! This time we rate hotel hois'n wirt in GMUNDEN, Traunsee, Austria. Reception fantastic and friendly. Room beyond exceptations with seeview. Lots of space in general (separate sitting corner) and for storage in particular. Spacy bathroom; quietness preserved. Nice decoration; great vuew over the lake. Relatively cheap as compared to 3 star hotels and even 5 star hotels. Cosy ambiance in restaurant and terrasse. Good, simple food. Vegan and vegetarian options ! Location very nice on the lake and plenty of free parking space. Staff very kind. A place to go if you are in the are of the lakes !!

Really lovely hotel and very friendly and helpful staff. They did all they could to make us feel at home. The hotel is well equipped and clean and the setting is absolutely beautiful. Highly recommended!

Schönes großes Zimmer. Tolle Aussicht. Laute störende Reinigungsarbeiten während des Frühstücks. Wellness Bereich top. Badestrand schön. Essen gutbürgerlich und reichlich. Große Aussichtsterrasse. Schiffsanlegestelle, deswegen nicht ruhig.

Seehotel in einzigartiger Lage mit einem schönen Gastgarten und guten Parkmöglichkeiten. Geräumige und ordentliche Zimmer mit Seeblick. Feine, kleine Wellnessanlage. Ausgangspunkt für viele Wanderungen. Frühstück hat noch Luft nach oben. Zimmer sind in der Hauptsaison eher teuer.
