Tartan Lodge - Hostel

- don’t expect to meet nice backpackers there. Most of the people there are couples/mini-groups going for hiking or people who moved to Glasgow and looking for accommodation. So there is sadly no “backpacker vibe” - they also accept homeless people. So as long as you don’t want to leave in a homeless shelter don’t go there. The one that slept in my dorm was disgusting. Eating in the dorm (making a lot of noise) then burping and farting. He acted like he didn’t hear me when I said eating was not allowed there. When I opened the window he was like - It’s freezing, I’m gonna close that. I honestly didn’t believe it was happening. I’ve been to many hostels. But this experience was one of the worst ones. - WiFi in the room was good sometimes and sometimes didn’t load anything - the shared space (living room) had dirty tables and smelled microwaved food (I assume microwaves were dirty, but haven’t checked them though) - disgusting carpet everywhere - paid luggage storage +Nice walk distance from the city center + Supermarket nearby + low price + nice warm and clean bedsheets (looked quite new) + not bad bathroom

The staff are exceptionally rude, after finding dried female blood stain on our bed sheets. We reported it to the front desk, he did not apologise and whilst on the phone just passed us off and said someone will clean it, he didn’t know our room number. We returned after our day out, to discover the sheets hadn’t been changed, we reported it again. The same guy looked and acted like it was the worse thing in the world, IMAGINE SLEEPING IN IT! In addition, the cleaners arrived at 8:30 to do obviously nothing but take the bags out the bin. Furthermore, the doors slam at all times day and night, not a great night sleep. We have stayed in hostels all over the world, having paid £155 for two night in a dorm, we expected better but I can honestly say it’s the worst by far.

Unfortunately, it was the worst hostel I have ever stayed. In addition to the staff was unfriendly, hostel was a big disappointment from our point of view because of this extra day paid issue. We left the room at 11:10am, being the checking out at 11:00am and then we have to paid it. Thanks a lot for make a fool of us. Besides, the hostel was so far away to city centre. It would be better to stay outside instead of this hostel.

note positive: Discreta pulizia, staff gentile e sempre disponibile. Fermata del bus direzione cittá é proprio di fronte all'ostello. Cosa non mi é piaciuto: Di solito gli ostelli sono sistemazioni per giovani, dove si trova un clima giovane e amichevole. Questo ostello l'ho trovato triste e con ospiti al di sopra dell'etá massima consentita. Wifi molto scarso, il piú delle volte non funzionava. Per chi ha il sonno leggero non é ideale data la posizione tra due arterie stradali. Confermo le 3 sterline extra da aggiungere per pagare con carta di credito.

The staff are not friendly and not helpful and they would speak down to the homeless people are terrified and it is joke and the reception staff don't give a damn and when homeless people need help.

Tienes que hacer el check in tardisimo, a las 14:00h, si no te cobran tres libras por dejar alli las maletas y el check out es super temprano, a las 11:00h, si no cinco libras más, lo peor es que no te informan de eso, yo me enteré por que la limpiadora cuando nos vió a las 11 aproximadamente terminando de recoger nos advirtió, a las 11:15 entregamos la llave y de muy malas formas nos exigieron el pago. Tmabién piden solo una señal y después pagar el resto alli en efectivo, MENTIRA, el resto se lo cobran cuando quieren de la tarjeta no te cogen el dinero en mano. Muy descontenta en general con la atención al cliente. Por decir algo bueno, esta todo bastante limpio.
