Glasgow Youth Hostel

Amazing building in a fancy neighborhood, not very close to city center but still works. Friendly staff. The bedrooms, well… not the cleanest but you can easily adapt. However, not individual light for the beds or electric plugs. A lot of facilities: luggage storage, kitchen, laundry, games room, tv room, social lounge and reception.

What a cool building! Beautiful location on Kelsengrove Park (but be aware - it’s a bit of a walk to get back over to the main part of the city, and taking Uber is difficult because of a huge amount of construction going on). Beds were comfy and room was large. Free coffee available 24-7. Awesome and nicely decorated lounge. Laundry available. Friendly staff. The breakfast was sub-par, wouldn’t bother with it. Lots of stairs and no lift.

The Glasgow Youth Hostel provides a top-notch experience with clean rooms akin to star hotels. Friendly and knowledgeable staff contribute to a great stay. The lack of an elevator may inconvenience some, but overall, the facilities are excellent. During my 8 pm arrival, accessing a local taxi from Buchanan station posed a challenge due to Uber's UK payment requirements, but assistance from a nearby bar resolved the issue.

Very noisy property itself. Also, reported an issue caused by noisy neighbors and they didn't care. Don't recommend it all. Couldn't be any worse. Wasted money. Not recommend. Poor service. No customer service at all. Very very bad......

Beautiful heritage building in the Kelvingrove Park area of Glasgow – this was great self-catering accommodation for our 3 nights in Glasgow. We stayed in a double room with our own ensuite bathroom. The room and bathroom were really clean and had a wonderful view out over the park. The communal kitchen and dining area has excellent kitchen and storage areas so it is easy to cook meals and store food in the fridges and shelves. There area so a couple of shared lounges, complimentary tea and coffee in the reception area, and a table tennis table. Plus a laundry room with washing machines and dryers. Paid parking directly outside on the street. Good fast wifi is included. Reception staff were really helpful and able to answer all our queries.

Great place to stay during C2C Festival. Staff very friendly and helpful. Stayed in all-female 10-bed dorm with 2 separate shower rooms, plus 2 separate toilets so no fights for the bathroom in the morning / evening. 2 very spacious lounge areas so plenty of space to chill outside of the dorm room. Also a big self-catered kitchen and dining area. Loved breakfast - served in a separate dining area from the self-catered facilities. Tidy and well-presented with plenty of choice. Loved the fridge display with milk, yoghurts, fruit juice etc, even a toasting machine. Breakfast area was clean and well-kept, even after big student group had been in. Downsides: check-in from 4pm which was tricky on 1st day given C2C shows start at 4.30pm. However, I arrived in the morning and was able to leave luggage at hostel and come back later to check-in. Also worth noting that there are approx 70 stairs to the top floor and no lift so it's pretty tiring - I think they can provide more accessible room on advance request. Plus, I was told at check-in that the only drinking water was in the self-catered kitchen (down in the basement so a bit of a long walk from the dorm on top floor). Hostel is situated at the top of quite a big hill so a little bit of a hike. Would recommend getting the subway to Kelvinbridge or St George's Cross if coming from Central / Queens St train station and walking the last 10-15 mins (not the whole way). Pretty close to the OVO / SECC though (about 20 mins) so great for C2C festival.
