Hotel Bineri

Am not sure if this hotel has changed hands as the reviews prior to mine are nearly a year old and conflicts with my experience. I was part of a small tour of 15 people - when we arrived we all had to sit in the breakfast dining room (very dated/old rickety tables with plastic covers) for a welcome drink - our courier was handed one bottle of wine for all of us! The rooms were allocated next and as there was no lift every one was on the 2nd or 3rd floor so all had to manhandle their cases up the stairs - the second flight which I had to use took me to the attic to a small room up in the attic amongst the beams. Shower room was tiny and dark and very low ceilings as sloping attic. After the first night I did complain and was given a better room downstairs - you have to ask why they gave out the worst rooms when there were better ones. The breakfast was abysmal. The pre cooked eggs/sausages were in terrains with no heat under them so were stone cold. The coffee was luke warm. Not much choice and what was there was done on a real budget and only enough put out. There is a list of rules to abide by in the hotel!

What a delightful hotel! Small, cosy, traditional with a stunning terrace overlooking the rooftops of Gjirokaster. Very friendly staff who sorted luggage transfers and made our group so welcome. My room at the top had its own little balcony - I could happily have stayed here for weeks! A wonderful place.

Lovely little hotel, with very kind and helpful staff. Charming room. Staff bent over backwards to carry luggage arrange taxis, serve coffee. Nothing seemed too much trouble and the experience just made us want to stay longer. The location in the old centre was ideal.

A beautiful hotel with lovely rooms warm and comfortable.hotel was in a nice spot to see Gjirokaster city. Food was delicious and very nice staff. We felt like home. Staff cooked traditional food for us.

Very friendly and hospitable, authentic rooms and ambience, very clean. Great location and breakfast. Ask for local food Trahana. I highly recommend the place for families and colleagues. Best option to be taken for staff retreat trips.

Staying at this hotel was a nightmare, and I advise allpotential guests to stay away. I was initially drawn to this establishment because of its many 5-star reviews. My experience was dramatically different. Next to the hotel is a nightclub with an outdoor DJ, blasting extremely loud music each night from 7:30 pm until midnight. The noise is so overwhelming that you feel as if you are standing in the middle of a dance floor at a very loud nightclub. Relaxing, working, reading, or sleeping in the room becomes impossible until the nightclub closes after 12:00 am. As a frequent traveler and a regular hotel guest for the past four years—even having stayed in noisy hotels—I've never experienced anything comparable. I've documented this in the attached video I took from yesterday evening at 11pm. While the reception staff was helpful, pleasant and breakfast good, the service at the hotel was below average. My room was not cleaned, and when I inquired about it, I was informed that the cleaning staff had already left for the day. I had booked a stay for 4 nights. After enduring sleepless nights, I requested a refund for at least one night so I could leave earlier. The manager refused and showed no understanding for my concerns. The excuses varied: initially citing coordination with a “booking agency in Tirana”, and later suggesting I'd changed my reservation dates, blocking any refund. The noise was not the hotel's problem but the government's, I was told. When I hinted at posting a negative online review after unsuccessfully trying to resolve the issue with the staff for 2 days, he offered a 40-euro refund if I left a "5-star online review". When I declined, he charged the full amount. This unprofessional behavior was disappointing. When guests face repeated sleepless nights from disturbances, reputable hotels usually offer partial or full refunds. Despite losing money, I left the hotel early without any refund, prioritizing my sleep. I advise to stay away from this hotel. At $70 a night, expect constant noise and uncooperative management. You can find better, more peaceful accommodations in Gjirokastër at the same price offering both comfort and a good night of sleep.
