Glenapp Castle

Just a lovely laid back stay in a magnificent luxury castle with acres of gardens and woodland to explore. Food, drink and accommodation first class, thank you to all the pleasant attentive staff we came across. Plenty to explore nearby too, sunsets on the beach especially beautiful.

Had a great stay at Glenapp Castle, that is situated in a lovely part of Scotland. We had just an overnight stay however, room was fabulous and dinner and breakfast were also great. The staff were lovely and very accommodating. Will definitely be back soon.

Just the most amazing experience. The drive up to the castle was enchanting. The room we had blew us away. The food was delicious. Attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble. So much to be grateful for and impressed with! Highly recommend.

We had a great 2 night stay in the Knockdolian suite at Glenapp Castle. The Christmas decorations, particularly the fresh flowers and orchid arrangements, throughout the hotel were outstanding! We were blessed with 2 beautiful winter days and even in the depth of a cold December the Castle grounds were so inviting and interesting to explore. We would love to return in the Spring and dine in the Azalea glass house restaurant with the log burning stoves on! The discreet friendly service made it very relaxing and comfortable, with wonderful breakfasts and a 7 course tasting menu enhanced by excellent wines. Altogether it was a great pleasure to stay here with the added convenience of on-site electric car charging. We fully enjoyed our memorable experience of Glenapp.

I am very upset. My whole family was looking forward to a two-night stay in the penthouse suite for my parent’s anniversary. Unfortunately, on the way to the airport in London our flight to Glasgow was cancelled at the last minute due to extreme weather conditions. We called to see if they would allow us to rebook the reservation later in the year as it was more than $3,000 pounds! We finally managed to speak to the owner personally. He stated that they do not have the ability to reschedule and took our money, only offering a potential concessionary rate, which he said was up to their discretion whenever we decided to book next. He refused to qualify a monetary value for this. I came away feeling he lacked compassion to the situation, especially since I was traveling with my elderly parents. Surprisingly, British Airways actually provided better customer service than Glenapp! I am horrified by this experienced and urge all that visit in the future to keep this in mind when booking. This has happened to numerous people I know at hotels in the past (similar size and price) and never have I heard of a situation where the hotel refuses to allow any credit to rebook in the coming year. This is all we were asking for... No empathy shown, and terrible customer service! Mind I also say, horrible business practice as we would have spent additional money in the hotel in the future (ie. in their restaurant or grounds). This is meant to be a high class institution. I highly urge you to chose another option when visiting the beautiful Scotland countryside.

Called me a week in advance. Asked me if I was celebrating a special occasion (our 10 year anniversary)... Also, if we had any allergies. Great. After arrival, no mention of anniversary again!? - why ask then? Check in great. Place is beautiful. Facade of castle fromoutside a little tired, After checking into room, noticed a fly and insect infestation in bathroom. Informed management They took pictures. Nothing done or followed up. Dinner outstanding, the service is amazing and the staff really are well trained. Almost too much! (007 like with their earphones!). Returned to room in evening, TV not working. To their credit manager brought another TV - however it's 10.30pm now. Still nothing done about insects (it won't let me upload videos, only pics which doesn't show the infestation properly). We're from Scotland, so understand flys and midges can be a nuisance, this was an infestation though! Breakfast 10/10, again top notch service. Credit to theirstaff. Went for a walk around grounds. Lovely. On checkout, no mention of issues. Dinner and wine came to £200+ and the overnight stay £300+ For a romantic, overnight experience. To fork out almost £600, I was not impressed. l'm disappointed. I expected big things from this place - we'd been wanting to come here for a long time. Informed hotel of our feedback on checkout survey. It's been a week, still not heard from them. Sadly, we won't be returning
