Five-star facilities, five-star front desk service, but one-star doorman service. I leave this review for all non-white potential guests: There's evident racial discrimination in the concierge service here. The doormen exclusively assist white guests by greeting them, opening car doors, and handling luggage. My family felt uncomfortable about it, so I can no longer ignore their experience. While the hotel itself is beautiful and all the rest staffs are friendly and professional, I strongly recommend standardizing your SOP or replacing the door team. British colonialism ended decades ago.

Good location. Very friendly staff Esha at the check in counter and 6th floor lounge lady staff. The toilets at the ground floor next to restaurant could be cleaner. Overall good experience staying at this historical hotel.

Beautiful colonial time hotel. Hotel staff were friendly, strategically located.

Modern building styled like the heritage wing however noise from passing traffic until very late at night destroys the ambience. Level 6 sea view breakfast is quite peaceful, staff very attentive and friendly. Beware the data protection clause at check-in...they want you to sign/accept despite details not being available.

The hotel is very nice, just by the sea, with all rooms good sea view. The breakfast is nice, with many fresh made options for local food, like prata, prawn noodle.

E&O is our favourite hotel in Penang. Being a local Penangite, we frequently ate at Sarkies and even had our wedding in this hotel 10 years ago. We're back in this hotel for our anniversary, however we were a little disappointed with our stay. The bathtub in our corner suite is extremely dirty and stained. We asked the housekeepers to clean it as we wanted to use it. Worse of all, when we filled the tub with water, to our horror, the water was brown in colour!! Not sure if there is proper maintenance done to ensure the water supply is not tainted. The housekeepers also did not refill the complimentary mini bar items despite stating that our suite includes replenishment of the mini bar items on a daily basis. The surface area and tables were not wiped properly as well when they came to clean the room. We hope the management would seriously look into this matter, especially on the water source and overall cleanliness of the suite / bathroom.

Excellent quiet location with a private waterfront. The outdoor infinity swimming pool is partially shaded and overlooks the strait of Malacca. The hotel has a classy heritage vibe with distinguished visitors such as Charle Chaplain and King Charles. The breakfast buffet is the best in town with made to order noodle soup and stir fried noodles. There is also a hot food station, omelette station, roti station, fresh fruits and bread

1. Noise cancellation is real bad. Can hear clearly our next door neighbor. 2. Toilet is not clean. 3. i booked for 2 night stays, but check-in the hotel wrongly take as one night stay. 4. The continental breakfast taste real bad. 5. Sea view block by a tree.

Everything is good

Love the rich history of this place! It is certain a grand dame hotel - like Penang’s The Peninsula Hotel - that has 140 years of history. My mum and I enjoyed photographic the Victorian architecture, the curios corridor and looking at the photos of celebrities and notable people who have stayed at the hotel, including Sun Yat-Sen and Michelle Yeoh. The breakfast buffet at Sarkies is satisfying; the pool in the Victory annex is great and we loved our seaview room with balcony.

Location is great, all the Rooms are big & facing the sea, great view. Cleanliness is ok considering it’s 140 years old. Toilet is huge with bathtub & separate shower area, similar size to the bedroom, only complain is the room’s 2 way switch a bit fiddly to operate. 1 of the Bath sink was choked but cleared very quickly after I called front desk. Drinks in the fridge are free to consume. Breakfast is good with international variety (halal). The pool is at 6th floor with great view.
