Villa Kubura

Wow, what a wonderful place to stay! Pure luxury. The family who own and run Villa Kubura are so warm, generous, and welcoming: the food is exemplary (the best we had in Sri Lanka), and the room is beautiful and clean with a massive comfortable bed. The gardens and the pool are so pretty and well kept and lovely to look at from the balcony at night. If you want something special, Villa Kubura is the place to go.

This is one of the most exceptional places we have ever stayed in, with luxurious accommodation and the perfect hosts in Sudath and his wife Dammi. They make every effort to make every second at the Villa count, with no request being too much trouble, incredibly attentive hosting but with a warm and friendly approach. Sudath has put his heart and soul into the property and it shows with the attention to detail which makes it both sumptuous but homely at the same time, full of interesting art work and furniture and a superbly comfortable large bed in our deluxe room. With amazing home cooked food from Dammi, including amazing breakfasts every day, everything at the villa made us determined to return again for a longer stay next time. Immaculately clean, the villa sits amidst green and lush countryside, a short Tuk Tuk ride from the hustle and bustle of Hikkaduwa and is somewhere to relax in the immaculate and extensive gardens or take a dip in the beautiful swimming pool, flanked by exotic plants and ornate stonework. Staying at Kubura Villa is a complete experience rather than a hotel stay and we arrived as guests and left feeling like we had made two lovely new friends. A delightful stay in a unique setting which we highly recommend.

All the extremely positive reviews shared here about Villa Kubura are accurate. We experienced the same high standards of hospitality and culinary treats and beyond. The owner Sudath and his wife Damni and his staff kept this beautiful estate in pristine condition, took notice of the guests every needs while not being overwhelming. We felt extremely lucky to have found this little gem and will highly recommend this place to our friends and families. We hope to be back again.

This is one of the most beautiful and pristine places we have stayed at during our month trip around Sri Lanka. Our hosts Sudath and Damni were wonderful from the minute we arrived, they took great care of us. Everything was perfect from start to finish. It’s a quiet retreat away from the busyness of Hikkaduwa but at the same time only a short trip away if you are craving the beach. However, the alternative of relaxing in their beautiful garden and swimming in the lovely pool is far more appealing. In addition, Damni is one of the best cooks that we have found on our trip and she made us the most amazing curries. We absolutely loved our short, 3 day stay here and would definitely come back and felt that we’d arrived as strangers and left as friends. Highly recommended.

Villa Kubura was the perfect stay for our adult family. The rooms were spacious, spotlessly clean and the bed very comfortable. The service was fabulous. Sudath is there whenever you need him. Small details make this place stand out - pool towels, beach towels, tea or coffee anytime, fresh drinks all without the need to ask! They have found the perfect balance with service that is discrete and special. The food cooked by Dammi was consistently good. Breakfast was plentiful & fresh and dinner was a treat; we asked for traditional Sri Lankan and the curries and fresh seafood were delicious. The location of the villa is ideal. Your are ten minutes via tuk tuk to the beach, bars, restaurants and shopping. The quiet area allows you to fully relax and enjoy the pool, reading or wandering the garden. We loved our time here and plan to return it was so good.

Villa Kubura was the perfect end to our honeymoon travels around Sri Lanka. The Villa itself is beautiful. The gardens, pool area and dining area are just stunning, and all designed by the owner, Suddath. Sudath and his family were lovely. They went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect, a big thank you to his wife (Damma) who spent a couple of hours one evening teaching my wife how to cook tradition Sri Lankan curries! Our recommendation would be to have the home made dinner at the Villa on your first evening, you may want to do the same the next day - the food was incredible and we ended up having dinner at the Villa each night. Located just outside Hikkaduwa we had no issues getting around and when we come back again in the future we will be back Suddath, it was one of the most beautiful places and you and your family made it even better!
