Came back after 20 years Still excellent although some things need a little tlc.nothing too serious Good pools and gym Food excellent and varied Paid for room upgrade - worth the extra Will probably come back but not after such a time Friendly staff - much appreciated

Sometimes I don't understand negative reviews, the food here is great, varied, always fish, meat that is quite unusual for us (goat, sheep), local sweets, lots of fruit, vegetables always. The staff is completely correct and professional, they don't impose themselves. The environment...beautiful garden, mountain views, really small flaws, years of use are completely irrelevant.. We would like to come back next year.

I had an amazing stay at Pestana Village, a truly charming and relaxing hotel in the heart of Funchal. From the moment I arrived, the reception staff were incredibly welcoming, professional, and always willing to assist with anything I needed. Their warm hospitality made my experience even more enjoyable. The hotel is surrounded by beautiful lush gardens, creating a peaceful and serene atmosphere—perfect for unwinding. The pool area is fantastic, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and well-maintained. The location is also ideal, within walking distance of Funchal’s city center. I highly recommend visiting the Old Town, exploring the Monte Palace Tropical Garden, and taking a ride on the famous wicker toboggans. There are also plenty of great restaurants nearby to enjoy the local cuisine. Overall, Pestana Village exceeded my expectations, and I can’t wait to return. If you're looking for a hotel with great service, a relaxing ambiance, and a fantastic location, this is the place to stay! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Lovely hotel. Great location. First class service. However it badly needs air conditioning - a fan in the room is not enough and the public indoor areas very warm. It did not take away from our enjoyment but would enhance a stay. Amongst the most charming and helpful staff we have ever encountered.

The Village is set in beautiful gardens and shares the site with its sister hotel, the Miramar. Both properties share a cocktail bar which has happy hours at 5.30 and later at 9.30 as well as a pool bar open through the day which does lunches alongside another, burger bar. The main restaurant located in the Village serving breakfasts and evening meals is a self-service buffet restaurant and there are also table service restaurants, the Miramar and Adego which operate alternately and which can be booked, depending on availability, in place of half-board meals. Similarly half board has the flexibility of swapping an evening meal for lunch if you wish to eat out at one of the many restaurants nearby. Hot food in the buffet restaurant was a bit variable and generally unappetising although always enough choice to find something. Breakfast offerings such as Brussels sprouts were unusual to say the least. Fried eggs always available however and omelettes and bacon by request. Always a good selection of breads and pastries. Cold choices and salads were good and desserts excellent with fresh fruit always available. Accommodation in the Village is studio rooms in various locations and consists of bedroom, bathroom with shower over bath and a small kitchenette area with sink, 2 ring hob, kettle, microwave, sandwich maker, fridge and cutlery, china and glasses for two. There is no air conditioning in hotel rooms which have ceiling fans only and the few power sockets are taken for lights and tv so some have to be unplugged to charge phones, tablets etc.. There are 2 unheated outdoor pools and a heated indoor pool as well as a spa area with sauna, steamroom and gym equipment. Overall we found it a good hotel with excellent friendly and helpful staff. To summarise: Pros. Excellent and helpful reception and other staff Good sized rooms with self-catering facilities Flexible dining options Well situated for transport and walking distance to town Good selection of restaurants and couple of small supermarkets nearby Generally good wifi in rooms Cons: No air conditioning in rooms Mosquitos quite prevalent no doubt due to all foliage on site Lack of available power sockets/ charging points Pigeons strutting about dining and other areas, possible health issue?

Lovely place, beautiful grounds, we were in a ground floor apartment and had sun on balcony till around 12:30, outdoor pool was cold but most pools abroad normally are, indoor pool was warm, lovely restaurants and bars close by, we didn’t eat in the hotel restaurant but it always looked busy, nice walk into Funchal 10/15 minutes, bus back is only €2
