cozy self check-in rooms

For a fair review it is important to understand the concept of Becozy Hotels. These are ‚pop-up‘ hotels following a ‚no-frills‘ concept. Basically what Ryanair is for air travel, Becozy is for hotels. The price was great, but you need to be aware not to expect more than the bare minimum. There is no staff, it’s self-check-in, in case of questions you need to contact the service by WhatsApp, first only getting to an AI, which is not helpful. Only once you get a real service agent you get help, and actually the agents I contacted (Maryem and Elise) were very nice and helpful. Still, the self-check-in is anything but streamlined, three days before arrival you get the first mail and the request to send a copy of your passport and to pay the local tourism tax, then the morning of arrival a mail to pay for your stay and then there should have been a third mail request to authorize the deposit, which I didn’t get. Once that settled you get a mail with access information for the building (not useful as the keypad at the door is broken, the number ‚2‘ only occasionally works, but is part of the door pin) and for retrieving the room keycard from a machine in the lobby (which didn’t work and claimed there was no booking with the access code provided). Thanks to the help of Maryem I finally got access to a spare key… I‘ve been to other self-check-in hotels where all this was organized much simpler and actually worked. Maintenance is poor, the desk lamp in my room was broken, the windows were so dirty I assume they haven’t been cleaned for years, one day there was a water leak in the lobby, the common areas are apparently cleaned only once a week at best. Under the hotel is supposed to be a shopping center, but except for one hairdresser all shops are empty, giving the building a vibe of a lost place. Still, if you can live with all this, you get a well sized room in a convenient location close to city and railway station for a great price!
