Spontaneously decided on a last-minute getaway to The Berg for some Christmas shopping. Our chosen motel turned out to be a source of amusement due to some less-than-ideal conditions. The couch in our room was littered with crumbs from chips and bread. Opting to sleep in our clothes on top of the sheets, we dared not investigate what lay beneath the mattress. For breakfast, the establishment offered a DIY waffle option, but we chose to skip it. Suspecting that the couple a few rooms down might be engaging in questionable activities, as there was a strong and peculiar odor emanating from their vicinity. I strongly advise avoiding this place. To my surprise, my car was still there the next morning.

We stayed here about 5 years ago and were pleased with our experience. However, the last 5 years have NOT been kind to this motel. It is in desperate need of some serious TLC. The pool was closed (no reason given) and the ice machine wasn't working. New exterior paint is much overdue. Our room appeared clean, but the toilet set was broken and the ceiling above the bathtub and our bed showed evidence of water damage, cracks and layers of paint ready to fall. The free breakfast was only served between 8:30 & 10. We are early risers, so we ate elsewhere. 8:30 is WAY too late to start serving breakfast. When we went to check out, the clerk had to unlock the reception area door??? Is the neighborhood questionable or was she discouraging anyone from coming in to get breakfast (you'd have been out of luck, it was after 10). We won't make the mistake of staying here again!

Motel is exactly what you need for an easy stopover. Our room was clean and spacious. The bathroom is small but fine, and the shower was well pressurized and hot. Breakfast great - especially considering that it's included in the price - with lots of fresh fruit. Staff were friendly and helpful when we needed - we locked ourselves out after hours and they came down within minutes to let us back in. Can only assume that the bad reviews are from people that expect a 2* motel charging less than every other place in town to somehow be a 5* hotel - it's not, but it does everything it needs to do. Recommended.

This place is terrible. There was a gap under my door, smells bad. I left at 6:30am went to drop off the keys (they will charge you) going back to my car the parking lots is very dark on the side with room 101. I tripped over a curb fell flat in my face went to ER when back to the hotel saw the owner & told him what happened because of no lights. His answer was sorry. Really ??? no refund offered no help what so ever. I would rather sleep in my car than stay there again. Save your money & stay anywhere else
