Mont d'Or Franschhoek

We stayed here for 4 nights and it was lovely. A short walk into the centre where shops and restaurants available. We went on the wine tram and also did an ebike wine tour which was great fun. Breakfast at the hotel was lovely with lots of options. The room was lovely although bathroom a little dated and due to the tin roof on the building when it was windy in the evening a tree continued to bang on the roof through the night. Still slept relatively well. Would stay again.

Hosts were brilliant very friendly and helpful. Property is lovely and great location 2 mins walk to Main Street

This was our second stay at Mont D'Or and we enjoyed both visits. The staff are very friendly and helpful and it is well located in the centre of Franshhoek. It has a nice garden with swimming pool and breakfast on the veranda was a nice start to the day. The only down side, in our view, is the size and space of the rooms on both occasions we stayed. On our first visit we were up in the attic room, which was not ideal. On this occasion our room was not spacious at all and there was one tiny wardrobe with no real capacity, so we were living out of our suitcases, which would have been tedious for a long stay ( we were there for 2 nights). Both our bedside lights had to be replaced as wires were hanging down from the bulbs. Our room was only accesible via the outside veranda on the street which meant to get into the hotel we had to come out of our room then unlock the main entrance into the hotel and then lock it behind us. We were not given a second key and so each time we had to travel together or work out a system, which got tiresome. Minor point I know. I know there are better rooms in the hotel but we have not been lucky enough to book them yet. Nevertheless, overall we had a very nice time in Franshhoek and would probably, with a better room, stay there again.

Mont d’Or provided us with comfortable accommodation in a great location. My only criticism would be that the “classic” room was a little cramped. An excellent breakfast and friendly staff more than compensated. Franschhoek is a fabulous place and well worth a visit.

One road back from the Main Street, this is a great location in Franschoek. The Manager/Owner is there to greet you, the rooms are comfortable, the breakfast excellent and there is a nice swimming pool and sunbathe area. An honesty bar and good parking make this such a nice informal place to stay. And they accomodate children!

Great place to stay. We stayed for one night, it's just off the main street and close to everything. Lovely setting for breakfasts.
