When we arrived, my husband had to make two trips carrying all our luggage and baby essentials into the hotel before anyone acknowledged us—he was the one who had to say hello first. No one even looked up or greeted us. For an expensive hotel, you'd expect a warmer welcome and some assistance. By the time we were finally told we could use a trolley, we had only one item left in the car. Our 5-month-old baby has a health condition that requires us to monitor his breathing overnight using a device that connects to WiFi. Unfortunately, the hotel’s standard WiFi doesn’t require a password, which is needed for the monitor to work. Although there is a secure staff network with a password, the reception staff refused to provide access. On our road trip from England, we stayed at five different hotels, all of which went out of their way to ensure our baby’s monitor was connected to WiFi without hesitation. Here, however, asking for assistance from the reception staff felt like too much of a burden. On a positive note, the bar and restaurant staff were fantastic—exceptionally friendly and eager to help. Considering reception is the face of the hotel, we expected much better service.
