Courtyard Fort Walton Beach-West Destin

We stayed just one night here on our way to Rosemary Beach and really enjoyed the convenience to the Destin airport (under 20 minutes). Bonus that the hotel was right on the beach so we could enjoy our first morning in Florida on the Gulf. Easy parking under the actual hotel and spacious room. Limited food options but they did give us cookies upon check-in, which were tasty.

Arrived at sunset, but still had a chance to walk on the beach, very nice. The parking is at ground level, hotel is above the parking area. Lobby on 2nd floor, I kindly requested water view, I guess they were slow because I was upgraded. Lobby was busy, there was live band. Room has basic modern décor, all clean and functional. Large windows, too bad there are no balconies. Property is not directly in front of beach, there is a long walkway to pool and beach. I had to leave mid morning, but did enjoy a early morning walk on beach. Overall had a nice stay

Very tiny rooms filled with brown, pressed board storage, tables, and the such (no trees were harmed in the design of these rooms); flashback from the 60s, but not in a good way. Extremely small window for beach view. Long, green building (seems abandoned) between beach and hotel adding an uglier site to an already horrible site from the third floor to a large, overflown dumpster easily seen from the small window in the room. Stewby's might be at a walking distance if you are in decent shape and have the time to walk, but guests are not facilitated the walk with pathways or sidewalks; basically you are fighting traffic and have to go through an unsightly way to get to the closest restaurant, Stewby's. You are better off driving elsewhere to eat. The beds the hotel calls "king" are really queens. We had to call twice to have sheets changed bc they were dirty (photo below); finally someone brought a clean one upstairs to us. The "heated" pool is not. It is coolish, or barely warm and the pool is not large enough for more than one family. The gym's ac was not working properly and only two people at a time are permitted (extremely small with only five machines and a rack of weights). We paid extra to have breakfast at the hotel, but obviously it's not automatically entered into the system since our desk lady had to give us a physical pass with the date to present to the barrista, but neglected to give us one for one of the mornings and we had to go back to the front desk before ordering. To get to the beach you have to go through the pool, by the ugly green building, and more before you hit the sands. In all, this place reminds me of a low-budget, apartment complex. There was one bright point: breakfast! The morning people really take pride. The coffees (Starbuck's) were amazing. The breakfast were pretty impressive and the eggs were so beautiful and perfect that they looked happy (I had to take a photo, see below). Because of our glorious breakfasts and coffees, and the fact that the booking-and-check out app made things so amazingly easy for us, I am giving this Hotel two stars. The reason their photos seem partial, is because that's really where the space ends (be it the pool or the gym). Much smaller in person for sure.

It was a great hotel and great experience! Convenient location, easy parking, easy beach access, staff was all very friendly, clean and updated hotel, food was great, Mike & Holly the bartenders were fantastic! The little details the hotel does made the stay even better. Live music at night in the bar and outside by the pool! We’ll be back next year!

You don't go to the hotel room through the lobby, but you have to walk up the stairs in my case to the door. It is like a motel. And the stairs were dirty and dark. There were dead bugs and cigarette buds. Totally not what you expect for this price range. Just really strange to go up to your room from outside. Breakfast was plain with usual plastic plates and silverware. Why is it so difficult to find real china and silverware at hotels these days?? Does nobody care about the tremendous waste from those disposables? Nobody wants to eat breakfast with real plates and forks and knives so that their plates will not be sliced by their knives? Anyway, the beach was right there and wonderful, the pool was pretty, and the courtyard was lovely. The bed was comfortable and the room was clean. THe service was a little too "casual" for my liking, but not bad. But I am not going back because I do not want to experience dark and dirty stairs to go to my room from the outside. I don't want to stay at a motel like place in Florida. I feel that bugs could come inside the room more easily.

Not bad-The 20 somethings who were checking were very rude- Felt sorry for the reservations crew-Rude to us, also. (60's something). Nice pathway to the beach-Had to drive to dinner (AJ'S) - no sidewalks- Ice machine was on the fritz- had to ask people in the cafe for ice-had a great room, clean, but whoever did their plumbing needs to get glasses-everything was crooked in the shower. Would I stay again- yes but would go back to FWB- too much traffic

We stayed 4 nights, my husband worked and I enjoyed the beach. I really like this hotel, all of the staff was very nice, everything was clean, and the beach was amazing. They have a Starbucks to get basic breakfast drinks, and you can purchase breakfast which was basic and not much flavor on the eggs, but they had salt and pepper and it filled my belly. We usually stay at the Fairfield Inn nearby, but I like this hotel better. The pool is nice but they really need some umbrellas, there’s nowhere at the pool to escape the sun. I’ll definitely stay here again.
