Fergus Club Carema Splash

I never usually write reviews but after booking in February then seeing all the negative reviews on here we tried to change hotels last minute and I am so glad we couldn't! We have just had an amazing week. Its true that some parts of the hotel need a bit of a refurb, especially the pool areas and splash park but it didn't affect our experience in any way. The resort is very hilly with lots of steps but we are made aware of that when booking and the views when walking to and from your rooms in the morning/evening are absolutely stunning! The room was lovely, kept very clean with clean towels every day and beds made, the room smelled very clean and fresh and the air con worked perfectly. The staff were very friendly and really made the holiday extra special. The entertainment staff were amazing and one life guard called Gabriel was so friendly to my son (6). We never had any problems getting a sun lounger, 4 out of 7 days we managed to get some right next to the pool despite us only getting there after 10am, the other days there were still loads left in other areas so there was no problem at all. The restaurant was kept clean and food was kept topped up, we never had to wait for a table. At the busiest times there were short queues for the buffet but nothing too bad and its to be expected really. The food was nice, a little repetetive but what can you expect from an all inclusive buffet? All in all we were very very happy with our week here and agree with others saying the negative reviews are not warranted at all.

Good hotel - standard all Inclusive family type with everything I’ve experienced elsewhere really Clean pool and good water park Sun beds get reserved - but that’s the same for everywhere if you want poolside loungers Buffet was good - a bit samey - but nice and very much normal for this type of hotel - could do with themed nights and an omelette station at breakfast perhaps It is hilly - so if you are not fit and able this may pose its challenges The room was modern and clean and more than adequate The staff were efficient and friendly The entertainment in the evening was good - better than average I would say Overall it’s good and I’m not sure if they have made recent improvements or if the recent negative reviewers just had higher expectations If you are visiting shortly - it’s all good as far as I was concerned - just don’t expect anything other than a good to standard all inclusive hotel in the height of the holiday season

We were pretty nervous leading up to our trip as the reviews were dreadful but we were really pleasantly suprised! We arrived at 2pm and reception gave us the option of waiting to check in there and then or goung and getting lunch first begins it shut at 2.30, which was appreciated. We had room K102, it's up a hill but if you walk along the road rather than up all the steps within the resort it's not a difficult walk (my lazy 4 year old managed it multiple times a day!). The room itself was basic but fine, the main bed was enormous and comfy but the sofa bed was pretty awful, you could feel springs everywhere and felt like you'd fall through it any moment! The room was always spotless after housekeeping came, no complaints here! There are several pool areas, the main one by the restaurant was the busiest and noisiest, then you had a small quiet one opposite and a larger quieter one behind that, which we loved. The food was pretty good, there was always a varied selection (reviews saying there were no options must be down to fussiness/wanting chips or pizza etc) of fresh fish and meat, tonnes of veg/side dishes, a salad bar, pasta bar, desert bar etc. Staff in the restaurant were super efficient, clearing plates and tables really quickly and always friendly and able to answer any questions. The staff in the pool bar were majorly understaffed but again, always friendly and happy to help. The kids club/entertainers were excellent, Goofy in particular is a true credit to the hotel and my son adored him. He checked in with guests throughout the day, remembered kids names etc, he was absolutely brilliant. The splashpark was excellent, it isn't huge but it was perfect for kids up to around 10 I'd say. The three bigger slides at the back were great fun and the lifeguards here were great. The beach next to the hotel was lovely, water was beautifully clear and you can walk over to the bigger beach very easily. Fornells was a 10 minute bus away and was very worth a visit! Overall we really enjoyed our stay! I don't think it's a 4 star hotel yet but with a few minor changes it definitely would be! My main areas of improvement would be; Replacing sofa beds - ours was awful Labeling food in the restaurants Having covers/fly guards on the food Drinks machines often stopped working or were turned off Nothing major but would make a big difference! The hotel is in a gorgeous location and looks beautiful, small changes would make this a 4 star

I don’t usually write reviews, but I think this hotel definitely needs another honest review. When you read the bad reviews on here or elsewhere- PLEASE take those into consideration when booking this hotel. First of all, even though we purchased an all inclusive package - basically most items need still paying for . Your basics, such as kettle, iron, even things as mugs to have in your room - need paying. 20€ for iron. 10€ for kettle (week) and 5€ per mug, PER DAY. Things like ice cream (not the little plastic tub ones they do) cost anything over 2€, crisps anything over 1€ .. all the branded good drinks also need paying… first time, us staying in an all inclusive where we need to carry our wallets. Maybe we’re just used to an actual 4* & 5* hotels. Hot drinks are only in the morning for breakfast in the buffet area. Food is nice, with a variety daily, for breakfast, lunch, dinner. The area is hilly, like very hilly. Quite secluded, but we actually like that. The rooms are lovely and the exterior is so pretty. Pools are small, compared to the size of the accommodation. The pools are also very slippery, especially the little one , not very great for young children. Also quiet dirty, and quiet a bit of mould. Majority of staff are rude! Especially the ones at the buffet. No smile, no chit chat, no hello, no bye. Entertainment is lovely, they are really doing their best. There are very few bins around.

We had a lovely week (10-17 August). I also booked this holiday in February and was concerned by the very negative recent reviews. Be prepared that rooms are not available until 3pm so best to ensure swimming things are easily accessible, perhaps in hand luggage. When we did access our room it was lovely. We had a promotional one bed apartment (K block) on the edge of the resort but amazing views, quiet, no smell & a four poster bed style sun lounger! There are 3 pools not 1! The other 2 on the other side of the hotel are quieter so recommend swimming there or selecting sunbeds slightly away from the main pool. The beaches next to the pool are beautiful, the sea so clear & shallow for a considerable distance, great for children. The beach to the other side (accessible over steps) is even better and has no seaweed, plus you can find lots of turtles if you venture towards the dune area and stream here. Bring snorkels as it’s a lovely activity here, or can buy in the supermarket. We hired the pedallo and that was lots of fun too. Inflatables can also be used in the sea but not the pools, which is fine. The water is not rough as others have stated. Staff work very hard and the entertainment team did a cracking job. My children enjoyed taking part in the football, darts, pool and boules activities. Plus we used the mini golf and table tennis too. This place was perfect for two energetic boys aged 12 & 14. The splash park was fun too. The hotel is well placed for accessing other parts of the island as there is a bus stop outside. We visited Mahón and did the Don Joan harbour tour and took a bus to Arenal D’en Castell too (stop 2) which had a beautiful beach. The buffet does get very busy and noisy. Far nicer we found to go earlier if possible when it is quieter. There is a massive selection of food, there are many menu changes and there were not flies over everything either. We were perfectly content. Don’t forget the package provides one night at the A La Carte restaurant which you have to pre book, as they won’t remind you. We did have a lovely last meal at Bar Okapi up the road - beware the starters are massive! Recommend this. I agree it’s not a 4* hotel, annoyances that they charge a daily rate for the safe ( just lock valuables in your suitcase..) you need to hire a kettle and the deposit for the towels is €10 each but can change every few days. However we still really enjoyed our stay so hopefully this will reassure you that you can too.

My husband and I went to this hotel with our 2 granddaughters aged 11 years and 15 years old. We had a lovely holiday arriving home today 22.8..25. I have never written a review before despite staying in many lovely hotels world wide. I booked this holiday in February and only looked at some of the reviews just prior to going on holiday. I must say some of the reviews were very negative. I found myself feeling very anxious as a result before we went. I am happy to report we had a really lovely holiday. The staff are so welcoming and friendly. The animation team work so hard led by Goofy ( I'm sure that's not his real name} He is a real asset to the hotel and my girls were very impressed as was my husband who took part in a lot of the activities. The rooms were clean and the decor was very nice. The grounds are pretty and well maintained. The food was amazing with such a wonderful choice of food every meal. We always got seated very quickly even when it was very busy. The staff work so hard. We always got a sunbed they all looked new and well maintained. I read from a previous review that they were all broken which is not true.. The pool was lovely and was also well maintained. I really can't fault it. I just feel some of the comments were absolutely unfair and its for that reason I've written this review so that others will not feel as worried as I was with no reason. There is also a nice beach just outside the hotel with a variety of affordable watersports. The area is quiet with just one supermarket outside the hotel. I am happy and relieved to be able to write this review. We will certainly go again. Sue and Eddie Taylor
