Pros Staff are welcoming & friendly The location of the hotel is actually good, walking distance to most everything (it’s a walking city anyway). The room itself is beautiful - large & decor is superb. Cons The smell in the room was just awful ! There is a sewage smell on the bathroom that lingers throughout the room. Despite their ability to minimise this, it was always these. Poor excuse as to why it was there - it’s just poor plumbing & lack of maintenance. It’s a small hotel (8 rooms) - 3 by reception & 3 next to the breakfast room so can be quite noisy in the morning (banging of plates, cups, coffee machine going at 7am). When I say next to the breakfast room - you open your bedroom door & there are people sitting outside the door having breakfast & they can actually see into your room - not very private.

One of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had, unfortunately. While the location was terrific, this was hardly a "luxury" hotel. They were understaffed, resulting in piles of dishes on tables in the breakfast room, with one staff person running from the reception desk to breakfast to serve people. The website promises a free Florence museum pass if you stay three nights, but the hotel denied that to us when we checked in, saying it was in our email confirmation that we couldn't have it (that was completely false). We used the "one day" laundry service for clothes that weren't received for 3 days, resulting in us cancelling a day trip elsewhere since the hotel required that we go back to their hotel for our clean laundry rather than them delivering it us. The room was large but ill-equipped with things like luggage stands. Locals had a nightly fire in their fire pit, which blew plumes of smoke into our room for two nights. We left there with weird welts on our arms and legs-- bed bugs?? Do NOT stay in this place. The staff is completely uninterested in service and couldn't have been less helpful. And the price didn't at all justify the room, service, or paltry breakfast.

Our room was number 4 and the most beautiful huge room I’ve ever stayed in. I felt I was in a historical movie. Everything was stunning and the modern shower en-suite was also perfect. The frescoes in the room took my breath away and lying on the bed looking up at the ceiling was amazing . The continental breakfast was generous and set me up for a day of sightseeing.

I booked this accommodation in December 2022, with very good rates. I checked the rates approximately a week before and they had almost tripled. I received numerous confirmations- even up until the day before. After travelling 7 hours by boat, bus and then taxi, I was told I don’t have a reservation? They blamed *********** but it wasn’t that. They obviously got a better price. After months of planning and really looking forward to that hotel, I was extremely disappointed. In the end, after another taxi, we ended up staying at a great hotel near the train station. Luckily they could accommodate us at last minute. As much as the pictures look amazing, I wouldn’t recommend if you want to guarantee a room!!

This is exactly what we were hoping for when visiting Florence! Nestled right in the heart of the city, this is the ideal location for a weekend trip. The hotel itself feels really personal, with limited rooms and brilliant service. The room was huge and brilliantly decorated. Would definitely stay again, and if you are looking for a real taste of Florence, then Palazzo Guicciardini is perfect!

We have stayed here several times over the years, and we keep coming back because of the location, the rooms, the setting and the staff. It is on the Olrarno side of the river and only a few minute walk from the Ponte Vecchio. As an old palazzo, the rooms are wonderfully decorated with wall and ceiling frescoes, The staff are welcoming, helpful and courteous. The continental breakfast has been downsized some since COVID but there is still sufficient food for a light breakfast after the typical (relatively late) tourist dinner the night before. We asked for a room facing the garden (toward the Arno) and were slightly disappointed by it being somewhat smaller than what we had experienced in the past. Previously, we stayed on the street side of the building in huge rooms (might be a bit pricier) which were fantastic. Only issue on the street side was that it could be somewhat noisy if one sleeps with the windows open. But, all in all, a great place to stay away from the din of the central part of the city and we will go back there next time in Florence.
