I recently stayed in one of the Hraun houses with a friend. Our stay was mostly great, with one point of confusion regarding the booking. The house is listed as a two-bedroom, which was the only available option when we booked but worked out perfectly for two friends; however, when we arrived, one of the bedrooms was locked. We learned that access to the second bedroom would be an additional 5000 ISK per evening (an extra $100 US for our stay) - apparently only one bedroom is made up if only two people are indicated. The web site asks first for number of people and then shows available accommodation, with no clarification on this extra charge; the only way we would have known is if we had tried selecting four people instead of two. It would be great if their web site were clearer, but hopefully this will save others from the same surprise. (Less of an issue - our hair dryer was broken, and we were told "oh, yes, they break so much we stopped providing them", and also had some internet issues. The internet was fixed fairly quickly and the hair dryer wasn't a huge deal for us, but good to note if it is important to you.) On the positive side (which is large!), the outdoor space is really lovely, and the house was clean, modern and well furnished, with an induction cooktop, dishwasher, washer (no electric dryer that we could see, but a drying rack), heated towel rack, teakettle and coffeemaker, kitchen basics (oil, salt, pepper, coffee, tea), and the best shower of our trip. The hot tub was fantastic and we were lucky enough to have it to ourselves one night! They require reservations for the hot tub in order to try to keep it not too crowded, though I'm not sure what the limit is - on our last night there were 12 or so people at one point. We had the breakfast buffet each morning and dinner one night, all of which was very good. The location is fantastic for Snæfellesnes - it is about an hour from Borganes, just before the road to Stykkisholmur. It took us about 30 minutes each to Budir and Stykkisholmur, and it's a great starting point for looping around the peninsula. I'd absolutely stay here again on another trip, just keeping in mind the booking issue when I chose an accommodation.
