Encantada Ocean Cottages

Beautiful location and relaxing experience, with some exceptions (Dogs barking next door) Liked · Overall, we enjoyed the experience of being in an uncrowded and beautiful beach area. The staff is amazing, especially Diana and all the wait staff. We stayed in Cabina #4 and we loved our space. We enjoyed the well cooked meals and the morning coffee at the beautiful open air restaurant. We felt it was a good value compared to the adjacent hotel restaurant (La Alma) We enjoyed the warm, sparkling swimming pool and the immaculate maintenance of the gardens and the grounds. Our room was perfect for two people...bedding was comfortable and luxurious. The room would have been too small for more than one couple and possibly a child in the loft above. The loft was accessed by steep spiral staircase and we never went there. A/C worked well and kept us comfortable day and night. Yoga classes for $15 were offered daily, and the leader was wonderful and accommodating of all levels. Very spiritual and relaxing. Disliked · This cabin is adjacent to the restaurant and office. It was noisy with conversations from staff sometimes, especially early mornings and late at closing time. The adjacent property to the north had 2 dogs which would howl and bark. Several guests commented to us that they were in rooms adjacent to the property and they were very disturbed. We could hear the dogs every day, but were further away. Those dogs really are a negative issue with this hotel. Be sure you get a room as far from the residence as possible. Owners would take the dogs for walks on the beach, and the dogs would bark until they got to go for their walks, and often during the day, not at night.

Every other Christmas, we choose a destination for a multi-generational family get together . In 2023, we had grown to 9 adults and 9 children ranging in age from 6 to 18 yrs. We were originally seeking an 8 bedroom house with a chef but discovered Encantada Ocean Cottages on VRBO and it was an appealing alternative. The trip exceeded our expectations. The setting is rustic and charming. The staff are cheerful and very accommodating. There were always several options for our meals and the food was delicious. Having a beautifully landscaped pool as well as a private, uncrowded beach was ideal. We especially enjoyed the range of activities and took advantage of Tiffany’s help in organizing our itinerary. The surf instructor was great and managed to get everyone up by the end of our first lesson. Our favourite activity was the hike to the waterfall which included jumping from the ledge and sliding down the rock face into the pool. Although we were worried that there wouldn’t be a place to congregate as a full group and there wouldn’t be enough to entertain us in the evenings, this wasn’t the case. Tiffany organized a movie night with popcorn and a bonfire to make s’mores. We were very appreciative of her extra efforts on our behalf and we came away with great memories!

This place is such an incredible respite from the hustle and bustle of life in the big city. We’ve just returned from spending a week. Everything was so clean and well maintained, with careful updates that made for beautiful photos while not losing charm by modernizing too much. The pic it appears I did forget to take was of the rooms. Rooms were cool. Decent size with a comfortable bed and nice bath products. We had a good mix of onsite yoga, massages, and pool time blended with concierge scheduled off-site trips like going to ride ATVs through the countryside and a boat tour of the mangroves. So much fun! The key to this place though is the staff. All week, the chef made delicious food. The bartender’s drinks were all refreshing and balanced. And the other staff were so just so smiley and friendly, remembering our names all week and checking up on us without being intrusive. Bottom line- this place is amazing. The pictures really do do it justice. We were impressed enough to definitely come again. Which I, for one, never really do. There’s a big whole world out there to see. Put this place on your list.

We stayed twice during our trip to Costa Rica. Very nice and small property. We stayed in Cabina 2 which had very comfortable beds, small bath room, airco and fan. The breakfast options were ok and mainly veggie based. We had one dinner at the resort which felt rushed, not having the wine we wanted so we decided to eat elsewhere and luckily their are plenty of options around. The beach was great, the grounds as well and the pool relaxing. Only the smoke from burning stuff was annoying and sometimes a bit too much. So overall we would for sure recommend Encantada and we had a very pleasant stay.

Excellent service and accommodations. We loved the restaurant, beach, and assistance with activities such as snorkeling and horseback riding. The pool was warm and clean. I would recommend coming here with a family. We travel all over the world and this ended up being a top vacation for us.

Pulling up to the gates at Encantada we knew this would be a magical experience! This is our second time hosting a yoga retreat in Costa Rica and Encantada was an incredibly relaxed and easy experience. The food was great, the staff is super friendly and attentive, and the weather was perfect in the beginning of April. The cabinas are exactly as pictured and the entire space is located right on the beach, giving our large group of people enough space to be solo or hang out in smaller groups. We loved the privacy of the space and the beach and would highly recommend hosting a retreat here!
