Stayed at The Bear for two nights. Food was good. Room was modern and comfortable, however, minor issues let it down. Tap on bathroom sink loose and wood panelling behind bed needed a good dust. Plenty of soft towels. Pleased to see non slip mat in shower.

We booked The Bear, as part of company hospitality event at the racecourse. Also being referred by other members of the company who are based in Surrey. Parking was slightly ropey, but we did manage to get into the car park. The building is lovely, so much character. The room was nice, slightly on the small side. Nicely done, for the price point. My only real critique in the room is the pillows, new ones are needed and the shower needs fixing, so the head can be supported, without having to held. I would definitely request a rear room, as the road side is very noisy. I think the hotel really needs to print an invoice off for guests at check it. Instead, nothing is handed over. An amount is charged (which guests have no chance to rectify) then the invoice arrives 1-2 days after the stay.

Friendly welcome however the room was not worth the tariff paid. The blind in the bedroom was broken: the coffee machine was broken and did not work properly leaving a pool of coffee on the table and not in the cup; the shower control was too stiff for me to turn; the shower slider was wobbly: there was only one bedside table; the bedside light did not work. Couldn’t find anyone upon checking out to be told it’s all automatic. It would also help if they provided the key code for the car park prior to arrival. Purely on personal preference, I would rather open a window than have air con on. On the plus side, nice linens and honesty bar (not that we used it but nice touch). Oat milk also appreciated and the shower gel etc was lovely.

I had a wonderful stay at Bear! The room was spotless, comfortable, and beautifully designed, offering everything I needed for a relaxing visit. The staff were incredibly welcoming and went above and beyond to make my stay enjoyable. The location was perfect, and the amenities exceeded my expectations. Highly recommend and can’t wait to return!

I.ve stayed to the bear once before & had not been that impressed for several little, niggly reasons. But this time I felt it had upped it's game slightly. The staff were far more attentative, friendly & helpful. There's still room for improvement but it was a good experience.

Weekend getaway with the hubby Rooms were clean tidy and spacious and the snacks in the rooms were a great for the Mrs midnight snack Had a great time and the staff were all delightful and friendly We had dinner in the bar, very busy but staff still looked after us well

The room I was given (no.2) had a flap of wallpaper and plaster about 2' square hanging off the wall by the side of the bed!! I complained and was provided with a much better room (no.9). Overall the alternative room was very spacious compared to the first room I was shown. The staff were very accommodating and apologetic. I had a meal in the restaurant which was a little disappointing and wouldn't recommend the garlic and mushroom soup, picture below.

First class on all fronts. The service levels at all times were brilliant. Olly and Jacob are two absolute stars in a great team. From start to finish they absolutely nailed customer service and made the whole stay incredibly smooth. I was that impressed I even got in contact with the CEO of Youngs to make my point. Would never stay anywhere else when attending Sandown Park.

I chose the Bear to stay over as I was visiting my son and he is an avid Chelsea fan and the match was supposed to be shown live. When I asked the barman/manager to put the game on his excuse was that there was a problem with the TV. There was not all he had to do was activate the card. His attitude spoke volumes about the real reason which was he was busy and did not want to be bothered by such a trivial thing. Ended up getting a taxi to another Pub to watch the game, missing the first half. Ruined what was otherwise a great trip.
