Didn’t stay in the hotel, thank goodness, but we went for drinks and dinner last night. Absolutely shocking is the only thing I can politely say to sum it up. In order of events: insufficient tables for guests and visitors, staff running around but ineffective, took 20 mins to get a menu, placed order for 2 drinks and waited another 20 mins with 2 verbal reminders before drinks arrived, perused menu and told ourselves the very ineffective staff were under pressure with their 28 diners and 5 of them (!), agreed to sit outside as no available tables, asked 3 times if we could order food, twice a particular waiter came but couldn’t understand English so he just went away again, decided to persue (had been recommended as food good), observed demeanor of waiting staff viewed as bad as they ignored hotel guests trying to get food or a table, flagged another waiter for a round of drinks and asked again if we could order, just as we were walking out our drinks arrived so we agreed to stay and drink them with one final try, eventually 2.5 hrs later gave up and walked out completely sick of staff walking past us and ignoring us, went to reception to complain. There was a Manager at Reception who had been hovering around the dining areas earlier, he was bemused by my very clear synopsis of the events that had unfolded, but clearly didn’t or didn’t want to, understand. He scuttled off to the dining room to bring a waiter to answer, leaving the poor male receptionist to deal with the matter. Clearly shell shocked and bemused, he had no chance against what I must admit, was my lucid rant, about the shocking service this overpriced hotel were charging, and the complete lack of awareness of guests needs.
