Maqs Bistro

We just had a visit here, upon arrival parked outside the front door, the member of staff in the back very helpfully explained and showed how we could get to the little car park round the back. We were allowed to check in a bit earlier before stated 4pm which was great. We sat down for lunch and were allowed to pick our own table, the food was absolutely delicious, we loved the Chinese style chicken they do with the egg fried rice, gorgeous! There was plenty on thr menu. The room was easy to find and was lovely and warm the whole time! The outside view is of the back street car park but we didn't mind. Bed very comfy, plenty of toiletries and hot drink making facilities, and as a bonus there is even a fridge and microwave, very handy! Decor is perhaps a little dated in some areas but we didn't mind at all. Very good value price for the room. It was a bit awkward trying to plug the bedside lamp in alongside all the other plugged devices, a couple of things had to be jigged about, but no bother. We had a great night out in the local area, more fun than we expected, and the local people went out of their way to show friendliness to us and our dog. The chef here was also very friendly towards our dog Patch, who got a generous few chunks of turkey! Definitely would recommend 👌 thanks guys

Wonderful visit. We came for the crab fair weekend. We had a lovely lunch. Stayed over in their lovely spacious accommodation and also had dinner. We have visited 5 star hotels across the world and felt so well catered for with the food and service. A quiet ambiance but super attentive service and excellent food x

We have never noticed this restaurant before, even though it is on the main street in Egremont. It has a well stocked bar with an excellent house red Malbec and friendly staff. We didn’t take our doggies but now we know it is dog friendly, we shall on our next visit. Hubby ordered garlic prawns (on the Specials Board) to start and then the Hunter’s Chicken and chips. I ordered the Pork Tomahawk with mash. The sauce was delicious and the large selection of side vegetables were cooked to perfection. Hubby said they were amongst the best homemade chips he’s eaten. The portions were huge and we’ve wolfed down the take home leftovers for lunch. Even the nibbles and dip were unexpected and the tastiest we’ve had. 5* restaurant and service. We will be back!
