The Dukeries Lodge, Edwinstowe, Nottinghamshire

The place has recently been refurbished and the rooms are lovely. Plenty of coffee tea and biscuits and bathroom condiments. The breakfast is really good and the service superb! The team here are so friendly. When I am next in the area I would not dream of staying anywhere else! Top marks from me and thanks for your kindness over the two nights Kelvin

My wife and I stayed here prior to a family visit to near by centre parks so it was in an ideal location for that. Hotel has recently been refurbished to a good standard our room was well decorated/furnished throughout. Staff were very pleasant, we had booked for dinner at 6.30 and got our table at 6.25 we then sat for half an our with no one coming near us eventually went to the bar order our own drinks and had to ask staff member if we could order our food. I would say the food was good but £4 for 5 onion rings !!!. Breakfast was good standard Hopefully dinning was down to teething problems as seemed to be only one staff member taking orders . Would I go back , yes I am willing to give it another visit .

We have been eating here for years & up to this visit had little cause for complaint, the food was always good & a reasonable price. We have difficulties organising a family meal out due to working patterns so booked for a Monday evening. Unfortunately the Dukeries had a staff shortage so rang to explain only the light/limited menu would be available. We had to rebook due to the menu being even more limited & our previous favourites having been removed from the new menu altogether. The refurbishment is very nice but we will miss the booths for smaller group meals, although I agree they were in the wrong room. We also usually have the large round table for larger groups in the Oak room but now they have put new wider chairs around this taking the seating down from 8 to 6, which is disappointing. We were immediately informed by the waitress that 3 items from the menu were not available, so some of our group had to study the menu to change their selection. This proved difficult with the limited menu on offer. Food arrived & the 8oz steak looked lost on the plate with only 2 onion rings & 2 small slivers of a mini corn on the cob, a mini basket of chips & no 'pea shoots' as stated on the menu. My steak was cooked perfectly & tasted very nice but I did miss some veg or salad. My husband stated that his steak was only just warm, he also had to give me most of his chips as they were clearly over cooked & had a lot of small, mostly burnt crisp chips. I can eat them like this with sauce. which I had to ask twice for. Others found the food ok but not great. The overall verdict was the food seemed dry & not up to the former standard but much more expensive. We will try again just in case it was a bad night, otherwise we will be frequenting the other establishments found during refurbishment. I did use the card tip machine when paying at the bar but was not aware this charges an extra fee on top of your tip.

We thought we’d try this place since it opened again.. my god I wish I didn’t. The food was absolutely crap for the price it all was.. I ordered a ribs and chicken and chips. £19.50!!! Thinking it would come with a decent amount.. no. Littlest bit of ribs and the smallest piece of chicken and you get about 6 bloody chips. My mum she ordered a steak sandwich. Nearly 10 pound and came with about 2 little pieces of steak on the sandwich. Not good at all! Her and my auntie ordered home made chips. They brought out freezer ones. We asked if they could add atleast a little bit more steak on the sandwich. The chef said no?! Again wow great service. To then have a waitress come in and keep staring at us I’m guessing cause we complained. Again great service!🙄 we also asked for the manager. That didn’t happen. And then tried charging us extra for a side of 6 chips. Won’t be attending again! Prices are unbelievable for what you get!

I got a very warm welcome and enjoyed staying at this place. It’s had a refurbishment I understand my room number 16 at the top was very smart and had a new feel to it. The Bathroom in particular was exceptional and a lovely big shower. I had food which is goodand very accommodating staff. I will definitely stay here again.

Since having a make over the food is limited but delicious. The decor is lovely, however service can be slow. Each time we’ve been (3/4 times) something has unfortunately been missed off our order and the last time it was a full meal. The staff were more than accommodating, however left one of our members watching us eat!
