voco ZEAL EXETER SCIENCE PARK

Our stay was OK but overall was disappointing. We checked in only to get to our room and find a twin room not the super king we had booked. Went back to reception and it was sorted although it felt like we had put the chap out. He did apologise but blamed house keeping. The room was OK. It was clean with a nice bathroom. We were concerned after previous reviews about the heat but actually the temperature was fine. It wasn't really hot outside so perhaps that made a difference. The terrace and lounge were lovely. Unfortunately we didn't rate the breakfast at all. A shame as others said it was excellent but I've never seen such a thick omelette with the filling cooked separately and stuck under a grill. It was rubbery and just not nice. The scrambled eggs weren't great and the black pudding was dry and it was 7.15 so not like it was late. The orange juice was also not great so I would say it was typical of a big standard brakes brothers poor quality hotel breakfast. Strange when someone at another table was raving about their delicious breakfast. Very disappointing in our opinion.

Went to the hotel to meet friends for a few drinks. The hotel is clean and fresh and I was greeted with courtesy and smiles. The bar is well stocked with a selection of local draught products and an excellent wine list. The staff are knowledgeable and engaging. The sun terrace with a live Dj was very cool and had a great vibe.

Room was lovely, very comfortable, liked the adjustable heating. Lovely flatscreen tv with great setting and atmosphere. Outside had a great vibe with the DJ. What let us down was the quality of the food. It felt very oily and no seasoning for such prices, drinks tasted watered down. Servers were lovely though.

I stayed here recently for a work trip, from the whole it presents as a lovely and fresh hotel. However there are too many issues, of which I would never pay for if I was given the choice. 1. There is no air con in the building, which makes the room unbearably hot, leaving every guest asking for a fan which defeats any object of an ‘eco friendly hotel’ 2. The parking spaces are incredibly small and extortionate pricing 3. The restaurant is awful and far too overly priced. Walk 10 minutes to the pub for much better food with reasonable costs. 4. If you look at every reply to any of the reviews they have all been clearly generated by AI/Chat GPT, showing how little this hotel/company truly care about their customers. I would genuinely not recommend staying here if you have a choice

My stay was not terrible - but it was poor. Be prepared to pay £15 for the privilege of parking your car (miles from anywhere) and ask for a fan. No tea and coffee facilities - and recycled loo paper. Cross between a hostel, great hotel, travel lodge and Premier Inn - all for £150 for less than 12 hour stay. Bed comfy - but Premier Inn is superior.

Really like the eco awareness in the hotel, but this does lead to some issues. The quilts, which are far too thick (and, despite guests being advised to ask for lighter bedding, none is available) are very noisy. Also, those wanting a cuppa first thing have to go out and back in to their room, both with a bang! Went elsewhere for dinner, due to lack of dietary information on the menu, but breakfast was poor. Cold food, hard fruit and no fruit salad, alongside a really abrupt member of staff. Reception staff lovely. Loved sitting on the terrace.
