Dunhuang Right Here Hotel

I had 4 nights stay and liked this hostel room spacecious and clean. The owner 'Siao Fang' is very friendly and helpful even knowledgeable if any queries, he would delighted to share and guide you. The cleaning ladies help to clean the room daily and replenishment are sufficient. Hostel in a strategic location about 15 mins walk to D'un Huang night market and you can catch local buses to cressant desert with only RMB2 and Mogao Cave RMB5 only. It is a worth for value and if I have a chance to be back to here in future, this definitely would be my first choice by heart and strongly recommend to all my friends. Good location, some roadworks in area made it a but hard to find. Very noisy at night as gaps under doors and they allow locals with their dogs to stay. Good for a short stay.

The hostel is just down the canal a little from the centre of the city, an easy walk. The bus to and from the railway station is less than 500 metres away (ignore what Google maps tells you, they'll take you to a toilet in the wrong direction, use the Trip.com map, and click through to Google maps to get it right). Go a couple of km the other way and you're at the Dunhuang Museum. There is plenty of space downstairs to hang out, they sell a few cold drinks, and might even make coffee - they have the equipment). The rooms are on the second and third floor, no elevator. My room, #304, was quite rustic and not very big, but had a small table and adequate bed. The shower was just far enough away from the toilet that the floor there stayed sort of dry. Air con did struggle a bit with the 40 degree heat.

The room wasn’t cleaned before checking in. Hair and dirt was on the floor and the toilet had urine and stains on it. The floors in the room are cracked and unpaved. The walls have cracks and holes on them. The room wasn’t properly cleaned any of the days. Loud noise is heard from other people in the hallways late at night so we cannot sleep. WiFi is very slow.

Location great. Room comfortable, clean, and pleasant. Main drawback: paper-thin walls; next-door neighbor kept knocking in protest at my after-12 bathing noise; I could hear the neighbors even talking at a near-whisper. Nevertheless, slept fine, good experience.

The right here guesthouse is a great place to base your exploration of Dunhuang. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the hostel stylish yet homely. An affordable and enjoyable place to stay!
