The Fenway is a lovely old building dating from the 1920’s. The best part of our visit was the staff. All were very friendly and accommodating. On our first night, we had Champagne and charcuterie on the front lawn for the sunset and it was lovely. We had a drink at the rooftop bar, a very casual venue and a great place to watch the sunset. The drink prices were about what you would expect from an upscale hotel. We had dinner in the Hew Parlor and Chophouse. The food and service was excellent! Now for the not so great things: our room was well appointed, but very small, which maybe I should have expected from a 1920’s building. We had a water view room, but it was on the ground floor, so the view was limited. If you should decide to pay extra for a water view, I recommend getting a room on the 2nd or 3rd floors. Surprisingly, there is no bell service, so we had to wrestle our luggage on our own. Also, no room service and no newspapers. Our room didn’t have an ice bucket and when one was delivered, it had no lid. The Fenway is a popular venue for weddings. When we were there the small lobby and lobby bar were jammed with celebrants. Lots of pluses, but also lots of minuses for an expensive hotel.
